Thank you all for your kind words about Myna Birds. They're SO WONDERFUL, aren't they :) and the good thing is, here in Sydney, they're in abundant supply :D

Once again, thank you all for contributing. I honestly thought I'd be the only one posting here :)

I'm terribly sorry, ImAnAspie, that you're having such a rough time in person, right now. Here's hoping things will improve, REAL SOON!!

Thank you Campin_Cat. I really appreciate that. I think I'm getting over the worst of it. I'll pull through. I'm a survivor.

It's hard being an Aspie. I tried to explain to my counselor today what it's like to go through life being the way I am. I think she kinda got it and she had some previous knowledge of Asperger's. I told her there are some days I can't go to work because I just can't be around people. I think at first, she thought that was rather weird but I explained that it's not that I don't like people. I just get overwhelmed, stressed, nervous, feel out of place...

Quite often at work, I'll escape to the medical room. It's secluded, cool, dark, I'm all alone, I can stim there. Sometimes at work through the day, I need to be alone and my boss knows this and he knows I've got Asperger's and he lets me escape to the medical room when I need to.

I'm rambling as I usually do. Sorry

The myna (also known as mynah) is a bird of the starling family (Sturnidae). This is a group of passerine birds which are native to southern Asia, especially India. Several species have been introduced to areas like North America, Australia, South Africa, Fiji and New Zealand, especially the common myna which is often regarded as an invasive species.

Mynas are not a natural group (Zuccon et al. 2006); instead, the term myna is used for any starling in the Indian subcontinent, regardless of their relationships. This range was colonized twice during the evolution of starlings, first by rather ancestral starlings related to the Coleto and Aplonis lineages, and millions of years later by birds related to the common starling and wattled starling's ancestors. These two groups of mynas can be distinguished in the more terrestrial adaptions of the latter, which usually also have less glossy plumage except on the heads and longer tails. The Bali myna which is nearly extinct in the wild is highly distinctive.

Some mynas are considered talking birds, for their ability to reproduce sounds, including human speech, when in captivity.

"Myna" is derived from the Hindi language mainā which itself is derived from Sanskrit madanā.

Oh, I see. Facts as well?! OK. I've got a reasonably good story about them I read in a book I bought off of eBay for $8.

I'll tell you in a new post

It's about 4 different types of Mynas in Sri Lanka and their.. I'll tell you in a PM :) I won't bore anyone else. That's why I've not posted any information or stats on them. I thought people would just get bored and would just like to look at the pictures. :)

P.S.
I didn't see your post until now

I did that as well when I was at the Uni! Would escape to the library...and sometimes even hide in the halls when I was waiting for the lectures....yes, it's hard to be an Aspie in this world.

Pest is another word for very well adapted, it's a biologically superior animal in terms of survival. They have the good graces of being considered expendable. They've got a pretty cool colored plumage as well.

Like your interest in the Myna, I have a budding interest in Crows, they're a bird of ill omen and considered pests, but I like them because I was treated like an ill omen and a pest and because they're really intelligent to the point they almost rival apes.
