The reasons for people getting arrested now are increasing in ridiculousness. What's next? Someone gets arrested for stopping a fire?

I can imagine the scenario right now. A man trying to put out a fire in his house, when all of the sudden he is arrested by the police. The man asked why, and the officer just scolds him with how dare you put out an fire, can't you see this fire is trying to support his fire wife and kids?

I'm laughing my ass off reading this.

Your comment and my comment both sound like something out of a dystopian sci-fi novel.

Thank goodness it's only a misdemeanor and not a criminal charge.

A misdemeanor is, by definition, a criminal charge.

Ah, well at least it's not a felony then.

Wow, good thing he didn't go back in to save a kid. They would've probably put him of death row.

I remember a horrendous case in Texas where a guy was held down by the police as his house burned because his 3 young kids were inside and he wanted to get them. They all died. (It gets even worse, as he was falsely charged with starting the fire and thus murdering his kids and was executed. Later, the forensics were disproved and the prosecutor was found to have hidden evidence.)

I don't have kids but IMO it should always be a parent's right to risk death to save their kids. Where does anyone get off thinking they get to make that decision for someone else? Crazy. I'd think some parents would risk killing the cop, saving their kids, and then gladly going to prison for the rest of their lives.

That kind of s**t just makes my blood boil. I hope the family managed to sue the police department, and the justice system.
