But I think society goes easier on girls who like "guy things" that guys who like "girl things" because society thinks "girl things" are inferior. Just look at a certain franchise of cute little animated ponies. It's getting so old. The hate I mean, not the franchise.

Yeah, that also really doesn't make sense, girls can like guy things, but not vice versa? I am kind of a brony, but it's uncomfortable sometimes because people are so judgmental about things like that, even wearing a pony t-shirt is kind of embarrassing. Why are things that are so stupid so important to so many people? I often wish I could just completely disregard what people expect and think, maybe I'm moving towards that :p

I think that this whole thing has really effected women more than men, and that part of the reason it's okay for females to to things that are "male dominated" or whatever is because of the push not that long ago for women to be treated more equally.

If they act on their thoughts, actively interferring with your work, they can prevent you from bringing anything worthwhile to the game, thus making sure the job is not for you.

I don't like gender stereotypes because I can't conform to them and I get punished for it. I think they are evil. Also, because the social structure in the US has broken down, the gender roles are increasingly obsolete.

Would you quit trying to derail the thread into some negative thing about you...and discuss the topic at hand.

Yes I find them to be quite annoying...granted there are some differences between males and females, but I don't believe in forcing/coercing gender roles and the differences are not as apparent as the gender roles which is a social construct.

They annoyed me when I was questioning my gender & my sexuality but I don't really dwell on em nowadays & just live my life. Sometimes I find jokes about the stereotypes funny.

Yes, I agree I think a more androgynous society would be better too.

people always used to make comments about my hair when it was really short, i hated it. why can't women have the same haircuts as men?? short hair is so much more practical and comfortable than having a huge long curly mess.

Video games are unisex if you ask me. If a female wants to play Call of Duty and Battlefield she should be able to without people being rude. Most of the time people aren't rude about it.

On the other hand if a guy wants to play Nintendogs people view it as childish and unacceptable. If a guy wants to play virtual pet games he should be able to without people being rude.

They definitely are annoying. My mom and my sister believe in gender stereotypes so much {especially the ones associated with males} that I just want to scream at them for believing in stupid concepts.

Yeah. Some people get to hold you to standards that they don't have to live up to (and thus they have no idea). I'm starting to think that that's the primary purpose of gender -- to allow double standards.

I'm physically large with a very male build, but my personality is at odds with the normal stereotypes and there's endless crap for that. Yet another reason not to talk to people.

I agree. More stereotypes I've seen are: girls aren't supposed to like hunting, women are 'supposed' to like/want babies, women in stories are always made to have or want a relationship (with a male or another female) no woman can be allowed to be single in a story.

My parents had no issue with me liking 'guy stuff,' and even my sisters were into 'guy stuff' too.

The fact of my avatar looking like a scary skeletal werewolf instead of a cute fluffy skeletal werewolf is kind of proof of this.

If you don't like my posts, I'd appreciate it if you simply ignored them. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean I'm "trying to derail the thread into some negative thing about me", which is all the more absurd because I wasn't talking about myself at all, and I was discussing the topic at hand. Please stop gratuitously accusing me with no regard for what I actually said.

Other than that many times I thought I should've been born as a male. As I enjoy what is typically considered as men's roles such as taking responsibilities on my own shoulders, building something out of nothing.. and protecting weak beings like a superman.. But I don't watch TV, I don't read News, I don't mind which names society calls things ..so it's hard for me being annoyed about something I don't care.
But I don't see any of those things stereotypical of men or women exclusively. These have more to do with personality type.
Perhaps the people in your life who share these qualities are most often men. Where I'm at, it seems the men in general are lacking these noble qualities you have.

Where I come from these are some annoying gender stereotypes:-

-It's ''OK'' for men to have hairy legs and hairy armpits, but not OK for women

-Apparently grey hair looks ''OK'' on men, but apparently grey hair on women is unsightly and women ''must'' dye their hair if they notice they are growing grey (unless they are elderly, but I'm talking about middle-aged men and women)

-Men can just wear a shirt and a tie for formal occasions, or even just a shirt, but women have to be more dressy and have to make sure what they're wearing looks ''right''

-Men seem to be less judged if they walk with a limp or a hunched back, but women have to have a perfect posture

-Men can wear dirty clothes and look dirty and untidy for everyday wear, but women have to always be clean and tidy

-Men don't have to spend time grooming themselves and putting make-up on. I know not all women wear make-up, but when it comes to things like getting married, the bride has to look ''stunning'', apparently

-Muslim women have to wear burkas and things like that covering them, but Muslim men just wear anything

-Teenage boys at school can play fight or play other games like tripping each other up in the mud, but teenage girls have to be really grown-up and just hang about in groups gossiping

OK, let's find some things that women can get away with but men can't...

-Women can express more emotion like crying in front of people. Men can only do this if it's for a really good reason, like a relative dying or something

-Little girls can be tomboys, but if a little boy is girlish, he may get picked on. Women can wear trousers, but men cannot wear skirts or dresses

Can't think of much else.
