Huh? You've just evoked unbearable curiosity... why an umbrella?

Why not an umbrella?

Might just be a tool with limited situational value for most, but it's much more for me.

An I've seen unbearable curiosity. Try not being able to ever stop thinking. The curiosity is very real there and very curious

umbrellas have multiple uses, you can shield yourself from the train, and poke out the eyes of muggers.

This man clearly understands the more practical uses of an umbrella. It's also just fun to have around so I can have something to fiddle with in my hands.

My family would be first but after that I'd have to say my meds. Before them my body didn't work right, in so many ways.

Besides people I love (which aren't things), I'd have to say number one is my health. Without it I have nothing else.

Material things?

Kites & gear - kiteboarding.
Macbook - interneting.

Glucose is up there, too...(goes with your previously mentioned Oxygen, and H2O). Suppose we should include certain vitamins, proteins and amino acids while we're at it.

Okay, basic physical needs for life as we know are just about covered... :)
