People are always surprised when a seemingly sweet, innocent girl such as myself opens her mouth, and asterisks come flying out.

I've found sometimes that the most effective cursing comes from a rare cursor, somebody not known for cursing.

"The idea that no gentleman ever swears is all wrong. He can swear and still be a gentleman if he does it in a nice and benevolent and affectionate way." --

Some days, the supply of available curse words is insufficient to meet my demands.

I don't see anything morally wrong with it. I do it if I find it necessary to express what I'm feeling at the moment. But I am considerate and try not to do it around those who may be offended.

Can someone tell me how the "f" word even got started? It doesn't even make any sense! 8O

There is a legend (which is untrue) that after the plague and decimation of the population that a decree was made to "Fornicate Under Command of the King"
Which became shortened to f**k.

In reality I think it came from an old German word.

In reality I think it came from an old German word.

"For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge." but that is also suspect. The Oxford English Dictionary states that the ultimate etymology is uncertain, but that the word is "probably cognate" with a number of native Germanic words with meanings involving striking, rubbing, and having sex.

For a long time I thought it originally came from a German word meaning "to strike", but it appears this theory may not exactly be correct.
