Anyone else find the lol Emoticon a bit disturbing?

lol. It is disturbing.

Oh by the way, lol does also mean lots of love as well.

it doesnt seem like its doing "lol" to me, just moving in the wind, like when you stick your face out of a car window on the freeway :D

I agree. It looks something like the phenomenon that was described in the 1800's as "laughing without smiling," a sign of madness. It looks more like a pained grimace than a smile.

It might even be sniffing something, seriously, the 'top lip' might be the bottom of its nose :lol: ? Still doesn't make any sense when it's supposed to be laughing out loud.

My mum uses it to mean that! She writes it in some of her emails to me. I told her what it usually means when I learnt it but we still use it to mean lots of love.
