Animation still isn't as bad as I remembered it, but it's still pretty bad.

Oh my god. I got that when I was like eight for my birthday. 8O

I share the pain.

@Lillikoi: I got it for Christmas in my stocking one year. That is not how a dog is supposed to eat food! XD

I'd rather have a live dog, preferably a rough collie, Shetland sheepdog, basset hound or bloodhound.

The ticket to the village I can't remember exactly the name of it. I was late and missed an opportunity to have 3 days of rest. It was awful.

You know those magazine series where you collect all the issues to make something? They cost like $10 or $20 each but it takes a hundred issues to complete the thing you're making. A sneaky way to make you buy something for one or two thousand dollars.

My grandfather, who's a real skinflint but bad at maths, started collecting a magazine series atlas a few months before Christmas. The atlas was poorly written and held flimsily in a binder rather than being an actual book. The maps were cartoony rather than cartographical.

I've gotten some cheapy and nasty gifts before but what offended me about this was that it was an expensive and nasty gift and the same amount of money could have bought something really good.

As a kid, I would say that it was clothes (still boring!) and doll's clothes (I was never the kind of girl to dress and redress dolls or other toys. If I ever changed their clothes at all, it was in order to dress them in one of the few clothes I liked and that would stay on them forever.
As an adult it was when my father gave me a new electrical tooth brush. What was wrong with that? Besides being something practical and boring which might be needed at times but is never something that will have me leaping with joy, I already had a fairly new perfectly functional electrical tooth brush.

Rough collies are the best! They've always been my favorite breed, and the collie we had was the best dog one can have.

It's funny how the older I get, the more I like getting clothes. Saves me having to buy 'em myself.

My mother was the best gift-giver, EVER!! When I got into my teens, all I wanted was "clothes, crafts, and records"----and, she DELIVERED!!

When my mother died, my aunt, sort-of, "took-over"----but, she was the WORST gift-giver, EVER!! She'd often re-gift----and, sometimes, she would even TELL me: "So-and-so gave me this, but I don't like it; so, I thought I'd give it, to YOU" (TOTAL narcissist)! !

After a couple of years of not getting a stocking for Christmas, I asked her (my aunt) if she would start that tradition----BAD idea!! My mother would put really nice things, in my stocking----and, she always put something that was wrapped, and super special, in the toe (like, when I got my ears pierced, she gave me real, gold ear-rings). My AUNT, on-the-other-hand, gave me things like cotton balls, fingernail polish remover, disposable shavers, deodorant, toenail clippers----it SUCKED----AND, she gave me, almost, the EXACT SAME THING, EVERY YEAR!! My mother would give me things, like: a small kit to make a necklace, "special" gloves (like, for dress), a little cat figurine, a little mouse dressed-in Victorian garb (I used to collect plush / ceramic mice), M&Ms (my all-time FAV), a keychain (I still have one), a little car (even when I was an older kid----cuz it wasn't a toy, it was a knickknack; I LOVE cars), "Mad-Libs", a small puzzle or game----it was the BEST!!

Sounds like my maternal grandfather, the drunk. When I was 10, he got me and my brothers an age-inappropriate game. Mom and Dad were not pleased, and made it known to grandpa. From that day forward, we were persona non grata. When we got gifts at all, it would be either white socks or bars of soap-on-a-rope.

Don't even get me started on my paternal grandparents...

Perhaps the only thing worse than getting a bad gift is getting a gift you thought was going to be good, but it turned out bad. Or disappointing, at least. Back in the 90's my mom got me a Playstation for Christmas, but one of the games she got to go with it was Rascal. When she told me she bought it for around twelve dollars at a grocery store I was concerned. But I gave the game a try anyway since I couldn't return it or anything. It was one of the worst games I ever played, due to the controls being so awful. I tried to sell the game but no one wanted it so I just gave it away to charity. Whenever I talk about Rascal I always like to say that just last Thursday I forgave my mom.

Two really stick out for me:

1. A weird prank device that my aunt and uncle gave me for Christmas back in 2005. It was supposed to be a sort of sticky rubber clamp shaped kind of like a headcrab from the Half-Life series (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... adcrab.jpg). Apparently you were supposed to put it upside down in the toilet bowl at school, and when someone sat down on the toilet the thing would clamp to their butt and stick there. There were two problems with it. First, it was almost the size of the toilet bowl, so it wasn't exactly easy to sneak around in your pocket. And second, it was painted purple, black and red, so you'd be pretty likely to notice it inside the toilet bowl. Honestly I can't think of anyone who I would have used it against, anyway.

So that's probably the worst gift I got that was meant for me. But, as for my worst "guilty gift",

2. Some thick wool socks from my grandmother. This actually has a bit of a story behind it, and I put it here mainly because it's just kind of unfortunate that I ended up with them in the first place. My grandmother had recently come home after spending two months in Australia, where she'd bought me a Great Barrier Reef T-shirt for Christmas. After she got back from Australia, she'd also discovered a charity for poor children in Nunavut and decided to buy them some socks, warm fur jackets, mittens, and some toys and books. Apparently, when she was wrapping the presents she somehow got them mixed up. So I ended up with the socks and a kid in Nunavut ended up with the T-shirt, which they'd probably never get to wear outside. Like I said, more of an unfortunate accident than a bad gift, but I think it deserves a mention.

An adult magazine from a cousin when I turned 18. Seriously?! If I want to look at that stuff, I can do it free online. I still get teased about it.

When I was a child my parents once got me a plastic shopping bag full of cheap christmas decorations from a discount shop. For Christmas.
