I'm digusted to hear about how many people would kill it. Personaly the best thing to do is reseach the best care for it.

Pish, nothing wrong with a rat as a pet, you're lucky it's so young, it will get use to being handled alot easier. My gerbil (had 4) would sit on my shoulder as I walked around the house.

Okay then, how come rats can metolabize things so much easier than people? For instance eat posion and then survive. I think that's why there's so many drug recalls these days. What Sopo means is that rats have a personalty like that of huamans. But maybe they are even better because they aren't mean and don't kill things to test drugs and posion.

i don't really know if it's female or male. i named it booger though.

i gave the rat some soy milk by a syringe and it swallowed the milk. it also ate some smashed up banana that i gave it. my mom said that i should let it go once it's old enough to survive on its own

To be honest, once it has been captive for so long, it will be hard to set free, because of not being able to hunt for it's own food. Maybe someone will take care of it for you, or maybe a wildlife trust.
