Real skeptics neither believe nor disbelieve anything without evidence.

For clarification, firm disbelief is a belief.

Firm disbelief is not how all atheists feel.

No argument here. Wolfram brought up skeptics.

One perspective I would offer is that most religious people believe in a god that created our world etc .Science is the search for understanding of the laws of creation to me there seems workable overlap . Personally I'm open minded to beings god like in comparison to us .Just trying to get talk going on how a group who use terms like intellectually robust are going with the flow to the point of being a bunch of muppets .Things like submitting to the laws of genetics could get rid of around 4000 genetic conditions and give you a mechanism for population control that doesn't impinge on boundary appropriate free will .

I am open to a god as well, I just need evidence. I think raising the quality of life for more people is the best population control.

Im not into religion, but in a spiritual sense, what's correlation between 'Indigo child' and 'Autism'?

Food for thought.

I consider myself spiritual as well. I am in awe of life and it's struggle. I may not be interested in the stars, but life it amazes me. It has nearly been wiped out so often, yet it persists. The natural world with its competition and symbiosis amazes me.

"Theism" never was a "belief system" either.

Many belief systems involved various forms of "theism", but "theism" itself was never a belief system.

So why would anyone expect "atheism" to be, or even to ever evolve into, a "belief system"?

I would say some atheists are starting to add dogma. I have seen issues such as freedom of speech or feminism seem to not only be dividing atheists, but some are saying their thought guts on it should be the opinions of all atheists.

I do agree atheism is not a belief system though.

If you believe that religion is solely to blame for say homophobia, then you might believe that all atheists should be for gay rights! But if you're an atheist who thinks that homophobia would have existed even with out the existence of Christianity then you might not expect all atheists to support gay rights.

I don't expect all atheists to support gay rights. There is no sacred text so individual atheists make choices. I do not think religion is the cause of all homophobia.
