Our sun isn't big enough to go into a supernova I don't think.

It's been said the sun its increasing little by little, it will expand big enough to absorb all the other planets and then it will become a black hole, but that will happen in millions of years.

I read that it will expand, swallow the first three planets, then go nova on us and then turn into a white dwarf, and it will be a dead star.

Unless we can dismantle capitalism , start consuming sensibly so we can get our consumption back down to what the planet is producing and get the war on terror under control I'll give it 50 years on the outside.

On the inside I dunno I think you'll be able to tell the how far we are on this course within the next decade.

It will take great change. Humanity needs strong leadership. There is either the option of a communist system or capitalism can continue if humanity starts mining asteroids and recycling more.

The sun is slowly turning into a red giant, wait 5 billion years and even when it dies,it won't turn into a black hole,it will turn into a white dwarf.

Heh, that's too far into the future to be our concern. Humanity will have colonized new planets and solar systems by then, I am certain.

Yes. Even tens of thousands of years into the future is too far to worry about. I reckon that technology will come to a near standstill and there will be a dark period by the 30th century. Technology has to come to a stop somewhere... and at the rate of humanity's advancement, there will be FTL travel in a century and a half at the most. The more technology there is, the faster the rate of technological acceleration. We've seen a huge leap with the invention of the computer, too.

Immortality... well, extended life will happen soon enough, I don't know about immortality. Give it 200 years.

It means I won't be surprised if frogs take over the planet.
