Gosh, I guess I'm in the minority -- the sound of a paper shredder running just sets my teeth on edge. The sound of paper being crumpled, however, I rather like.

I have no explanation for this.

I have one--- i usually wait until I have a pile of papers and then go wild shredding them. There is one at work, too, but it sucks because it jamms up all the time even if you put one paper in at a time and then you have to pull on the paper and it rips. Then you have to open it up and pull it out. the work shredder is no fun.

My paper shredder is powered by a hand-crank. That solves problems of noise, danger to children, and having to make info “disappear” after the feds have cut the power.

When I was in the Navy some years back we used to get these huge printouts on fan-fold paper. When we were done with them we would just set the stack in front of the shredder, feed one end into it, and let it suck it all in. EVERYBODY thought that was cool... except the CO.

I dont have a paper shredder I do however have a lighter and set the papers I dont want on fire.Once I received a right up from work they gave me a copy it made me have a meltdown so when I got home I set it on fire and I felt so much better haha. However a shredder should suffice altough I do not like the loud noise it genarates.

Paper shredders are the best. You remember those long strips of perforated paper that dot matrix printers used? I want to put one of those through a heavy duty paper shredder one day. :D

If you think a paper shredder is fun, you should check out a wood chipper.

We tried a couple paper-shredders before & they took a while & got clogged or something. Now we save the paperwork & stuff in a bag & we burn it outside when we make fires to burn cut branches & trees or w'll burn it in the fireplace during winter
