I feel the people who have influence here deserve it.

Kip has genuine influence at 21, and had it at 17. I would say people like Kura and AP, late teens/early 20s have considerable influence. Ezra, at barely 18, sets the satirical tone.

B19, of course, is the Guardian Lioness at 70 or so.

The only reason why more 20s people don’t have influence is because they usually don’t post enough.

Quite so, Trog. I must stay that I am feeling less and less like staying around, the Trumpian level of nastiness has increased so much and has become such a destructive influence, this is not what I joined this site to experience, and the Trumpism combined with the sexism, racism, misogyny, ageism and general hate virus has become so toxic that its a health hazard now - at least to and for me - not a support site.

Being a Moderator, I could see how having to constantly police toxic posts would get tiresome. As a regular poster here, I simply just gravitate towards that which I enjoy, or to which I feel I may be able to help, or contribute in some manner. It's always ashame when people feel driven away. Especially because of things like politics. Perhaps you might feel differently if you did not have the responsibilities of a Moderator, but still stuck around. Surely, it would have to be a different experience because then you could simply ignore all the toxic posts and never have to get directly involved ever again. To have to the carry the burden of making sure people 'play nice' with political discussions seems to be an impossible task. Or really anything after awhile. Really not worth the trouble.

I was just thinking how the factor of your responsibilities of being a Moderator may be a large contributor to your expressed sentiments.

It is not as stressful as witnessing the epidemic of illwill which is infiltrating the forums as an increasing trend and at an accelerating rate. Illwill sneering as a posting type was a very marginal issue when I joined, and there were more older members then, who generally posted in moderate and basically civil ways. Now many of those oldies have left; the illwill is making increasing inroads into every subforum, often driven by the same coterie of attack members. Illwill comes in many guises, sometimes masquerading as, or mistaken for, satire. However labelling something as that which is it is not doesn't change the impact of illwill posting.

I don't know about WP but this old thing just snuck up on me. I wasn't looking for it, honest. One day, BAM, it was knocking at the door and wouldn't leave.

I hope everyone here feels free to express themselves.

The problem for me is I'm not someone who reports posts ( I don't think I've ever submitted a report except for a PM as evidence , is there any way you can check if I have and don't realise it  ) so I usually just get involved instead.
I am learning but old habits die hard.

In my observation this forum is pretty much the same regarding demographics as most other forms.

I think one factor as to why members are older here is that the site has LOTS of bugs. The new members get frustrated very fast & leave whereas the older members have been here a while & like this forum so they stick around more even thou things are rapidly going downhill.

Don’t troll on Nutrition drinks, they come in different flavors and taste good. Weird thing is since I have been forced to live off of them my weight, blood pressure etc has never been so good.

John Quincy Adams, and I, were just talking about this the other day.

I told him that I joined WP when personal computers were gas powered, and you had to light the pilot light before they would work.

He told me that he joined when personal computers were hand cranked.

And then he told me the story about when his staff moved into the White House. They called him "Q" back then to distinguish him from his dad, prior president John Adams. And he told me that when his staffed moved in they found that James Madison's departing staff had removed the letter "Q" from the keyboards of all of the computers in the White House.
