Which Countries Celebrate Halloween?

You're wrong, but I don't mean to insult your intelligence by saying that. Actually, December25th might be a bigger deal in America than anywhere else in the world. And by that I mean literally December 25th, because whereas in many countries Christmas is celebrated over a period of several days, in the US we just have December 25th. We don't even observe Boxing Day.

I was in France around the time of All Hallows' Day and I don't recall anybody mentioning Hallowe'en there. In fact, if there's a word for it in French, I couldn't tell you (probably should ask a Canadian). OTOH All Hallow's Day in France was a public holiday.

That's OK, I wanted someone to point out if I was wrong. You're not insulting my intelligence at all.

Don't you have thanksgiving in America too? I don't know much about that, but I believe it's near Christmas. You might not watch The Simpsons but in the episode 'Tis The Season' Homer asks what day it is and Lisa replies ''Saturday December 6th'' then Homer says ''good, only 4 more days 'til Christmas'', which always confuses me, because I don't know if it's a hidden joke I don't get or if it means something to do with thanksgiving.

We do have Thanksgiving (must capitalize) however I can't say as I understand that line from The Simpsons. I imagine it might make sense within the context of the entire episode. I won't try to explain what Thanksgiving is, there is plenty of material on line that you can research. They also have a Thanksgiving holiday in Canada, which corresponds to Columbus Day in the US. Columbus Day is the day on which we celebrate the White Man's dominion over the Western Hemisphere. Which makes me wonder whether the Canadians are also celebrating the same thing on that day, by giving thanks.
