Sorry, I meant that they don't all wear the dresses, bonnets, etc. But, they are beautiful dresses!

I agree! I once saw a couple of the ladies in Walmart and I thought their outfits were beautiful. I liked the bright colors and the simple floral patterns. Do they really handmake those dresses? I think it's impressive!

I'd rather be autistic, I don't find it too bad.

Easily, Amish because you are not hated by everyone. Being hated by society sucks and that is part of being Autistic. When you are Autistic, you do not improve social skills, you do not get over your traumatic past, life is more a struggle being Autistic than not being Autistic, Autistics are hated by society and it sucks! I hate the whitewashing of Autism, those people have no idea what they are talking about and do not even have Autism.

Being Amish would be very difficult for one with autism; they probably would believe one is possessed by the Devil should one exhibit autistic behaviors.

People with autism do improve---both with and without treatment.

I was severely autistic as a young child--but I improved eventually.

Autism is not a dead-end street. Look up Temple Grandin.

From my perspective I'd rather be autistic (seeing as I am), but being amish has the obvious advantage that you can opt out of being amish.

Although in an extremely not Amish society it's becoming increasingly hard to be autistic (eg bright screens and loud noise everywhere).

I'd rather be neither.

I wouldn't want to do without my car. It took me so long just to get my driver's license and my car, that I never want to do without it again. I could take or leave television, and really prefer to leave it, since I mainly watch tennis. I prefer an active life to sitting around watching T.V. all day. I'm not a tech junkie, nor am I a complete technophobe. I'm somewhere in between.

I'm Lutheran, too, and love the people at the church I attend. My social opportunities have expanded greatly in the past three years.

This one is as easy as the one about becoming NT or receiving a million, that someone posted not too long ago.

I have no more interest in being Amish than I have in being NT.

Nothing about it appeals to me. Religion, no tech, having to wear skirts, having to start family, being told what to do by elders (follow tradition stuff), hard unnecessarily difficult work, being way too much a part of the society and nowhere enough of an individual. No thanks!

As I said before I would never want to be Amish, but I admire them because they are skilled at making a lot of beautiful handcrafted things like people did in the old days. That's amazing to me.

I also hear Amish food is really good.
