I hear that public transportation is also very popular in Europe, even in the country. Hear in the States, there is hardly any public transportation outside the big cities, and almost none connecting the smaller cities.
If I was to use public transportation to get to work, a one-way trip would take up to 2-1/2 hours, and I'd have to walk the last mile or so from the bus stop to my office. By car, it takes about 35 minutes, door-to-door.
