Bit of thread revival here, think it's time to run this on my current ISP one final time before we change on Tuesday to a new ISP who are allegedly promising beyond the "8 Mbps" we get here (that speed is in quotes because my router reports the real speed as 5 Mbps and speedtest.net.... well it's no different to when I had 1 Mbps, or a touch better)

From experience, it seems that you have to try multiple servers for testing as each one will be different.
I got this when testing to Madrid, Spain Image

This means a speed of around ~256KBps

I've used Bit Torrent and sustained a speed of over 350KBps over a long enough time to rate my connection as 3.0Mbps with a peak of 3.4Mbps which is 200K over the standard maximum of my USB dongle modem. (good old unlocked firmware)

I pay for 8mb/s connection, but is running a tad slow today, but I am REALLY jealous of some of the speeds here, 17 and 14 8O , I have the highest you can get in my area at only 8, I guess I should be happy as the prevous highest I could get was 1.5, and I feal real sorry for the guy using .37, ouch

At home I have 1.54mbps up and down (T1). That's not a lot of bandwidth by today's standards, but the connection is extremely reliable. It drops only one packet per week on average, latency to the gateway is 2ms, and they let me host servers on this connection.

At work the rest of the Internet has a connection to us. ;) 1000mbps multimode fibre.

I'm getting half a meg, seriously??! !

And I'm paying 80 bucks a month for 24 megs!!

No wonder it's been slow. It sometimes takes up to five minutes to load a 19 second video on YouTube.

WOW, your getting royally screwd!! !! !! !

I pay for 8mb/s, but it usually is somewere around 7, and I have never had it go below 6. Even at 6, it is plenty fast, I never have to wait for youtube to load.
