I've got one foot out the door.
I really don't care,
And I'm not coming back to this autistic or NT nonsense.

Yes, make me NT, I would very much like to connect with other people and form real friendships.
However, I would like to bring my knowledge of an autistic perspective with me because I think it's really difficult for NTs to understand it.

No, then I wouldn't be me. I'd much rather spend my time on my interests than wasting it on people. That would make someone I'm not and someone I have never desired to be.

The absolute only thing about being NT I would prefer is to be economically strong, employed, but becoming NT now wouldn't give me work, as I would not have the work experience assumed a 42 year old would have. No one is gonna hire an inexperienced adult in today's job market.

I do think the job market should be better suited to people with disabilities and injuries anyway because it's not "just" us, there are plenty of people who either are born with or become disabled with one thing or another, and it would be better for them to be able to get employment and for society to not "feed" them. Win-win.

I have never understood the absolute obsession with chasing blissful happiness that most people have, even those on the spectrum.

Evolution made the human beast to be social for protection, but mostly to reproduce.
"Happiness" and the "Pursuit of The Dream" are part of the equation.
It is an instinctual need with societal/community embellishment.

It is something that can be transcended.
Transcendence can more easily be achieved through rational means via metacognition.
Those on the spectrum have a greater tendency towards rationality than those of the neurotypical spectrum.

Ergo,
Those on the spectrum are better placed to view "the meaning of life, the universe and everything" though rational, impartial "Inner Eyes" than the average neurotypical bear.
I am one such animal. 8)

In other words:
I'd rather be a hammer than a nail. 8)

So no,
No neurotypical soup for me. 8)

Yes I would. I've spent enough time around NTs to know that most of them don't fit the negative stereotypes often portrayed on this forum.

This exactly.

NT doesn't mean they all sit around gossiping 24/7 with no other interests, hobbies or intellect. That's what some people on autism forums see all NTs as.
