I read that we should be seeing vaccines being given out in January. It's a whole other issue of getting people to take it because of the anti-vaxxers (worst people ever). As far as hospitals falsifying the death counts from Corona, it's not true. At least, in a way it isn't. They're recording deaths from Cancer, Pneumonia, etc. as Covid because Covid was the catalyst that killed them much quicker. They would have lived much longer otherwise. So technically the cause of death is Covid.

I'm in New Jersey, which is one of the lowest amount of cases even though it was one of the worst at the beginning. I was beginning to get sick of being cooped up but a lot of our restrictions are being lifted because we reacted so well to the pandemic (same with NY). NJ is also making people from over 30 states that come into NJ quarantine for two weeks, otherwise they'll spread it again and undo all our hard work.

I’m tired of it in the sense that I can’t go hangout with my friends or meet the 3 new babies that have been born in the last 5 months.

But I’m not tired of being vigilant about hand washing, mask wearing, and practicing safe 6’ - those things I can do for as long as we have to. (Probably until there’s a vaccine.)

Some oversimplified statements in the OP. This is not a virus that affects only 1% of people.. like there’s a 1% chance of death and it does nothing to everyone else they All recover and are perfectly healthy. That’s simply not true.

There’s a ~1 in 5 chance peoples’ symptoms will be strong enough to require hospitalization. Pretty much everyone in that boat is going to have permanent organ damage.. lungs, kidneys, liver etc.

So, it’s not as simple as we’re making al these efforts for only ~1% of people. Not even close. There are a whole lot more than 1% of people who’s lives and bodies will be Deeply Affected by covid-19.. And we just don’t know exactly Who they might be, because this virus doesn’t only have harsh symptoms for the elderly and immunocompromised - a 23yo super athlete could inhale a mega-dose of the virus and have it trigger a severe immune response which could kill them.

We’re doing all of this for everyone; ourselves included.

But yes I’d like to get back to work, the beach, social/sex life etc but Clearly that can’t all happen this year sooo I have to just do the things I can. Get back to work safely, exercise, maybe go kiteboarding before the summer is over, hopefully have my social distancing machine (motorcycle) back from the shop soon to ride around on scenic tours just for fun etc - make the most of a bad situation instead of just listening to the news, dwelling on it, while eating & drinking, being lazy and getting fat.

I just feel like I'm waiting for this year to pass. I'm fed up. I've lost all my confidence in going out, and I get really anxious if I have to. I love eating out at restaurants, but I'm avoiding those at the moment because I don't want to be forced to give them my name and phone number so that they can track me down if someone gets tested positive for COVID and tell me to lock myself away for 2 weeks, plus all the people I spoke to would also have to lock themselves away too, which could be everyone at work.

Yes, yes, I KNOW young healthy people can get severely affected by COVID and could die, BUT it is just as likely to happen as a young healthy person getting ill/dying from cancer. It's not as common as it is in older people but it can happen. And the only reason the whole world has shut down is because most people that get the COVID are asymptomatic and so everybody's become s**t scared of being near each other.

Those babies will grow up to be told one day"you were born during the Great Covid Pandemic of '20 - it was the best of times; it was the worst of times...and we didn't have much to do during lockdown so we went to bed early and back to basics which you'll be taught one day..."

We also mustn't forget that an important thing about not spreading it is that while the symptoms for may not be sever, they may be hospitalized with difficulty breathing or something not too bad or something worse. All the extra hospitalizations from this virus takes away resources from the hospital to treat other patients. I remember that being a big message at the beginning of the pandemic that I don't hear much about anymore.

Same here. Early on the small town hospitals pleaded with ppl not to go kiteboarding or mountain biking etc because they didn't have the capacity to deal with a rescue or injuries + covid. Our hospitals have all remained almost empty so people are mostly back to regular life - kiteboarding season is in full swing but with mandatory social distancing rules both on the beach and on the water. I still haven't gone.. haven't been in 2+ years. Just reinsured my car and might go sometime this summer. Even with upticks in daily cases, there are very few people hospitalized due to covid here so hospitals can manage regular case loads.

Totally depends on your local situation though. No one should be taking any unnecessary risks like extreme sports in covid hotspots where all hospital resosurces are under strain.

None of my family rode our motorcycles during peak concern, either, just in case. Everyone's back to riding except me - bike isn't ready yet.. been in a shop since November 29th. Hopefully soon!

Aside: A Nissan Rogue turned left in front of a motorcycle approx 1 block from my home yesterday. My mom heard the collision. The rider only had time to start turning towards oncoming traffic to avoid a direct head on hit. His bike and body hit the front of the car on the right side - completely destroying the front of the car, both airbags deployed. Bike ended up on the sidewalk across 2 lanes of oncoming traffic. He was gone in ambulance before I went outside to look. From what others said, at a minimum he is really f****d up and won't be coming out of the hospital anytime soon - if he makes it. I'm praying he survives. At least we have the medical resources to give him his best chance vs being overrun by covid. I haven't checked the news yet to see if there's any word.

I'm not tired of hearing of it, I devour news about it.

I am tired of having to be cautious of so many things, but it's preferable to getting it for those of us who are at risk and have loved ones who are at risk, so no choice but to soldier on.

Same here - News coverage on COVID that is thoughtful e.g., MSNBC, PBS News is a must. Main networks e.g., NBC, CNN, CBS coverage is pretty much treated as background.

Now used to protective measures i.e., wearing masks, social-distancing.

One strong opinion I have is that those few people who are not wearing masks, AND/OR not even trying to apply social-distancing might just be those personality-types best avoided - hence potential visible barometers of behavioral traits!

I am tired of trying, or rather of failing, to keep 3 kids happy at home all of the time.

My children are grown now, out of the house. My better half and I have four between us. I can't imagine trying to live through this with a house full of little ones. I don't envy you this task. I know how my daughter is struggling with her one.

I'm tired of hearing NTs and others moaning about having to live the same lifestyle I live by choice.

No. Not 'everyone hates it at home'. Not 'everyone wishes they could be at a party right now'.

I don't even miss classes and things tbh that I used to go to.

I miss being allowed in my granddad's house but I know it will come. And then I'll be more grateful than ever.
