Ooh. Yes. I like that green.

Or white with red decals can look nice on a lugged frame.

Noo. Not easy to keep a white frame looking nice. The Dawes Milk Race was a nice white colour with light blue decals.

A sort of medium-leaning-a-bit-toward-dark blue, maybe sort of like a light cobalt, and that deep sparkly/glittery stuff, I love the extra depth and bit of sparkle that adds.

Green Powder coat.

I like the metallic pink Dawes Galaxy frames but probably hard to maintain cosmetically. I think dark gren powder coat works well, even on vintage bikes.

I tend to brush paint these days. I live in an area where rust is an issue. Powder coating seems idealytic, but it only takes one opening where air and moisture gets in. Powder coating tends to rust under the coating and it is only noticeable when it is almost too late. It is a touch material though.
Spray painting is not usually that tough and also I get shutdowns with it.
Brush painting I can do and is easy to touch up without noticing.

Yes, it's a worry if you have a carbon steel frame. I'm more focused on Cro-mo frames at the moment and rust isn't such an issue. I'm down to owning 2 bikes, both Tange Prestige tubing.

Tange prestige.... I understand it is heat treated cromolly similar to Reynolds 501? (Ordinary cromolly is similar to Reynolds 500).
My bikes are steel but not ordinary steel. Cromolly is nice.

Yes, it's heat treated, I think the Reynolds equivalent is 725.

I have lost touch after 853. What does 725 ride like? How does it compare to the old 500 and 501?

So, who prefers a different colour for their bike than for their car? :nerdy:

I don't know, I've only had 531 bikes.

Which bike are you painting?

While I could do with painting one or two of my bikes, I am not just yet. Too many other things need doing.

I will say that a good well designed 531 bike is difficult to beat. True, some frame materials may have the edge on performance, but will they last or give the owner a comfortable ride?
