Spiders
I know this sounds strange to some, but on this occasion I was in work and sitting on the lavatory (As one does). I was working on the railway at the time. Now behind me was a window which was slightly open, which brought in a nice much needed breeze, and it was a stiff old window so even if I tried to close it I wasn't sure I could... But besides, in the heat of that summers day closing it would make my number two time intollerable!
Now as I was seated on the throne, a wasp flew in and was somewhere behind me. It is bad enough to have a wasp in the room while one is concentrating in the "Dive bombing" operation where each bomb was being prepared and loaded... (You get the picture!) soo to see a wasp fly round and at times hear it buzz (Or even worse, stop buzzing!) right behind me with small portions of my tender behind parts visible to the creature "In the flesh"...
So in my concern and knowing how sociable wasps are (Kill one wasp and all the rest get to hear the poor thing scream and they come to the rescue), and not wanting to kill Gods lovely creatures, I prayed that God would do something!
With that, a big hairy spider appeared behind me on the windowsill, but at an angle where I could see it (Just). Then I watched a battle commence. The spider was trying to pounce on the wasp while avoiding its sting, and the wasp was trying to avoid the spider capturing it and trying to manoovre its body so that its sting was in the right position to reach the spider.
Well, this battle continued for several minutes and it was enough time for me to release my payload, wipe clean my undercarriage and go... But I felt sorry for the wasp as I knew it meerly wanted to explore the facilities, and maybe try to obtain some lovely soft toilet paper to bring backto line its little nest with... Or maybe it just wanted to sniff around? Who knows... But I felt sorry for it because my prayer had caused the battle... And with that thought the wasp got away and made its escape out the window.
So thanks to God who informed the spider who knew exactly what to do... I was able to call that days secretive operation a success and win the war!

Most spiders I see in our garden shed look fat like they are well fed. In the UK there aren't so many species of spider, and the ordinary house spiders you get are the same ones you find in the shed or garage, only fatter because they probably find other crawlies living in there that they feast on. So I call them "obese spiders".

They are a gardeners best friend.
I like them, the webs with dew in the morning, the cute jumping spiders with so much personality,
they look fuzzy and adorable.
Spiders are the first defense against bed bugs and other gross bugs.People respected them more before there were window screens. You hoped a spider would spin a web and catch the flies and mosquitoes before they entered the house and bit your ass.
An old rhyme about spiders,
“If you wish to live and thrive,
Than let the spider run alive.”

One of my earliest memories is of holding a book out in front of a spider and calling “Here, spider!” because I wanted to hold it but knew it could bite, so having it climb onto the book was a good enough compromise for me. I think I was about three at the time. Don’t remember if the spider obliged or not.

There are about 660 species of spider in the UK. We generally only get to see the small number of species that share our homes with us. We would need to go looking in the right places to find the others.
I'm not afraid of spiders but like many people I have always found that the way they move makes me feel uncomfortable, but as with many things I have also found that the best way of overcoming that sort of thing is to learn a little bit about them. They are very interesting and an essential part of the planet's ecosystems.
The British Arachnological Society have an interesting series of factsheets on their website.
