Or perhaps the simulation is a historical recreation--events that already happened, that future beings are assessing for some purpose..like we do with weather simulations or past climatic events.

you're suffering just for the fun and entertainment of some pudgy kid who is playing Grand Theft Auto on his play station in his basement in a house in a another, bigger Universe.

And that pudgy kid is...about to die in agony in a nuclear strike, because HE himself is just a character in a World of War Craft game being played by another, even bigger, pudgy kid, who lives in another BIGGER universe.

And THAT kid is...just a character in a game of Farmville, being played by.....
