My major interests be first off guitar. This is afterall my major aim for a successful career in life. I need to keep at it... also Tae Kwon Do, which is new to my 'major interests' but I'm loving it. lol Maybe it's inspired by my obsession of Mortal Kombat... I don't know but it's healthy and good... I'm getting into the working out and feeling happier about my body now and will no doubt be even happier with my body once I begin to build strength and become really fit... and there's a satisfaction knowing that I can defend myself. It's great to know that I can defend myself... brilliant for self-esteem.
And of course the ol' major interests of taking big risks and trying to prove myself with social gambles. I feel it's sometimes a 'win or lose' situation... and I've found myself being on both ends at certain times... sometimes I win... sometimes I lose... it don't matter it's the thrill of the risk and relentlessness.

I want to become a skilled martial artist who is respected in those ways, looked upon as not just strong willed and a coper but a strong guy on the outside too... also want to get better with girls even though atm I think I'm ok at this... it's the normal socialising with general people that beats me... :? I want to get with a girl who fits into such and such categories and will be loyal to me.

Also want to become very good on the guitar and become physically strong and fit.

Currently:

Sudoku/Crosswords (spend most spare time doing those)
Astrology(long term interest...always looking up new info and buying more books and asking everyones signs.)
Internet(I meltdown badly without it. That has been what I would call an obsession for about 6 years now)
Gems/stones(on/off interest since I was a child. I love collecting them, but not for their esoteric qualities so much now)

You could say I have many interests in one area. ^_^
I love videogames, manga, and anime. Because of my intense interest in the three, I choose my major just so I could learn Japanese so I could gain a greater understanding of what I'm watching, reading, and playing. I'm sure those who know multiple languages must know the pleasures of reading something of great interest in its original text! Plus I like Jpop and VGM (Videogame music).

This interest has branched out into me really enjoying the Bemani type games, such as DDR, IIDX, and Guitar Freaks. I also enjoy other games such as Pump It Up, In the Groove, and O2Jam (don't play the last one much). Before anyone asks, no, I do not play Guitar Hero. It is a different game from Guitar Freaks. Different music, different scoring system, etc. No thanks.

I also developed an interest in a board game called Go/Budduk/WieQi. One of the oldest board games created originating in China. I don't play as often as I like. I'm 9Kyu IGS for those who play. I got interested in it from the manga Hikaru no Go, a comic that deals with the game.

When it comes to videogames, I normaly enjoy playing Japanese console RPGs. Standard "save the world" variety. Predictable, but always fun for me.

I also enjoy learning about colliquial Japanese language. It always facinates me how they speak normaly versus the scripted stuff you get taught. I love the langauge. It's very literal, which as an AS, like very much. ^O^

As much as I am interested in Japan and the langauge, I will be honest and I don't care about learning about history. I'm enjoy learning stuff about modern Japan and its language, but I'm not obssessive about samurias, ninjas, eras, etc. Some people think I'm strange for having such an interest in everything else in Japan, but not the heart. I enjoy some culture stuff, but some stuff I can't get into. Period. I don't care for most Japanese movies since they are too damn depressing, but I love the more light hearted manga/anime stuff. ^_^

I used to play Magic: The Gathering and Pokemon TCCG at one point. I quit both since it was hard to find people to play after I moved away from players I used to play with. There is a community where I live now, but it's not in my interest to get back into it. I tried three months ago, but it wasn't doing anything for me. Plus it is expensive to keep current in the game, so that partly turned me off. Shame...I used to spend hours thinking of different decks to make, but money was always an issue, so I never be creative with the game. Oh well...I spend enough time with my "main" hobby...much less do I need that one.

So...those are my obsessions. ^^;; A bit long, but hard to explain in just a few sentences.

Science Fiction - novels, movies, shows, pc games, anything that has to do with Sci-fi.

Ethanol Fuel production - I'm now getting back into it since last fall. I completed building the Charles 803 still and the boiler. Now I just need the federal permit then the ingredients, grain, yeast, enzymes etc.

Science - Anything scientific is always interesting, my favorite is chemistry and physics.

Mountain Biking - This isn't really a major interest, I only go about once every weekend, but I always enjoy it immensely.

Woodworking - I always have a project I'm working on.

Trying to figure out myself, who am I and what is my purpose here?

The more or less constant ones at the moment are:

-linguistics (everything from saussurean to psycho, socio and applied)
-hyperlexia and dyslexia
-AS (I guess)
-writing and reading
-history
-animals (especially dogs, horses and African wildlife)
-mythology

These can definitely qualify as "abnormally intense obsessions" :D

others are shorter-lived, or come and go such as:

-Star Wars
-astronomy
-Lord of the Rings
-Harry Potter

I really like Oldsmobile (history and models), therapods, collecting Egyptian-styled things ( my living room looks like a tomb), WW2 history, reading about rare diseases... well, I like reading in general.

Weather - I used to chase thunderstorms all the time, sometimes till 2 am or later. Unfortunately I moved to Seattle where the weather is rather dull.

Hiking / mountain climbing - I love western Washington :D

Science - Everything except maybe Chemistry (too much memorization of seemingly random stuff).

Math - On and off. Sometimes I get into it. Other times I get stuck on some trivial thing for a long time and burn out. Usually it's a proof/derivation were some step is either missing, brushed over, or is "left to the reader" (and I can't figure it out). When this happens I can't move on. I think it's due to my AS.

Fractals - see
