Why can't Elon Musk give everyone some of his money?

If Elon were sitting in the room with us right now he would probably say something like "I do the world more good by putting money into expanding my businesses and making myself even more-richer than I would if I just handed out bucks to folks...because I am creating wealth, and employing people". Which has some kernal of truth.

But if thats true - that he actually has that much money sitting in a bank account...it does show inequality. The bank accounts of everyone on the continent of Africa combined are probably less than his bank balance by itself.

Either that, or you read it wrong.

The "b" he would give each person may have meant "one bob". Not "one billion bobs".

But as Babybird said "dont worry about it".

It would instantly delegitimize the system that allowed him to horde all that capital/money/wealth/power.

As much as there are pros and cons to elon and his wealth and where it came from, IF he spends his fortune how he says he's going to then maybe it's totes fine that he has all that money to decide what to do with. He says he's spending it on SpaceX to make humans an interplanetary species.. launch off Earth, colonize Mars and other planets. He's not wrong in saying that "If we all stay here, we all die here," much like dinosaurs and other species that have inhabited Earth in the past.

He figures we have less than 100 years to start launching off of Earth anyways as we've screwed the planet so hard it's going to become uninhabitable for people in many areas - too hot and dry. If he's right on that vs. full of s**t, then it's worth his success to fund the rockets to launch some space explorers and raw materials off in every direction to start little people colonies here and there and hope that through technology people can populate other worlds, too.

And if it's all BS, well, whatever.. at least rockets are cool.

I hope it's BS. We'd only trash the other planets too.

*the world's first trillionaire has already been born and is of formative age now
or
*the earth will slough all us living sentient things off of it somehow sooner than we think.

giving 1 billion to 8 billion would cost 8 billion...haha...i understand though, im the worst at math
