DVD Boxset Addiction

I found a DVD drive in the garbage of a computer store while walking my dogs some months back. But I have yet to own a DVD. I tested it on a barowed DVD though.(I think the cd-rom has some problems is why it was trashed but it still works to).

I want some more DVD boxsets, we have a few film and tv series boxsets, but nothing special. I'm not really enthusiastic with buying films and tv series on DVD, when we could just watch them on Digital TV. But still, I have four DVDs of my own: Pitch Black, The Last King Of Scotland, V for Vendetta, and Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. We have 5 devices which play DVDs in total, including my PS2 and PS3; the old DVD player, which is obsolete because of my PS3, which is far superior; a TV/DVD combo upstairs; and the computer, which has a DVD-RW drive. We also have two VCR recorders, and of course cable and digital tv.

Too many to mention.

I have those two, along with the box sets for Blackadder, Black Books, Bottom, Dilbert, the Monty Python's Flying Circus tv show and the Monty Python movies.

There's something impressive about how HUGE and EPIC some of those look, but I only buy a DVD if I love the movie.

The only huge box set I've bought was the one for The Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition Trilogy.

I gave my sister Blackadder and Monty Python's Flying Circus for her birthday, so I get to borrow them. I also have Dilbert, but prefer the original Dr. Who.

I also want Space 1999 and all of the Star Trek series, but do not have the resources as yet to go down that road.

I don't know, but I wish it wasn't so expensive! The only reason I don't generally collect boxsets is because I don't have enough money left after all the other stuff I do collect! (But I do have some....) Obviously, the point of boxsets is that they are cheaper & take up less space than buying a series individually, simple as that.

For me it is the SERIES aspect that makes me into a compulsive collector. Right now I am collecting manga & maths & science textbooks, among other things.

My obsession with series started as a 5-year-old when my teacher made me miss out a book in our maths course - for me this was really traumatic!

But thinking about it, I wonder if deep down, what I am really trying to do is "fill in my blanks", i.e. learn the how to do the things I can't do that make me different from everyone else. If I can only find the right series, and start it right from the beginning without missing anything out, maybe I can become a whole person.

I know that sounds weird, but in my case it does kind of make sense!

for me it's Anime/sci-fi boxsets, and recently the Daily Show indecision 2004 box set. It is an adiction. It started back with Laserdisc sets, and has just gotten better or worse!
