"You're The Inspiration" by Chicago. It's not a sad song, but it evokes strong feelings for me nonetheless.

Silence - Sarah McLachlan and Delirium

"Silence (Delirium)"

Give me release
witness me
I am outside
give me peace

Heaven holds a sense of wonder
and I wanted to believe
that I'd get caught up
when the rage in me subsides

In this white wave
I am sinking
in this silence
in this white wave
in this silence
I believe

Passion chokes the flower
'til she cries no more
possessing all the beauty
hungry still for more

Heaven holds a sense of wonder...

I can't help this longing
comfort me
I can't hold it all in
if you won't let me

Heaven holds a sense of wonder...

In this white wave
I am sinking
in this silence
in this white wave
in this silence
I believe

I have seen you
in this white wave
you are silent
you are breathing
in this white wave
I am free

How about Broke in Two by TMBG...

Quote:
You said something before you left
Something I was not to forget

Then
Is when I maybe should have wrote it down
But when I looked around to find a pen
And then I tried to think of what you said

We broke in two
Busted through
Broke in two

I would go back to the top of the day from scratch
If I thought this thing could be fixed
Though sadly I'd do exactly the same thing as when

We broke in two
Busted through
Broke in two

You said "I'm gonna run you down"
I heard "I'm an orangutan"

Then
Is when I maybe should have wrote it down
But when I looked around to find a pen
And then I tried to think of what you said

We broke in two
Busted through
Broke in two

I would go back to the top of the day from scratch
If I thought this thing could be fixed
Though sadly I'd do exactly the same thing as when

We broke in two
Busted through
Broke in two
I'm an orang-utan

I relate to this song, but it doesn't break me like Snowball in Hell... or They'll Need a Crane... or Hovering Sombrero...

The Scientists by Coldplay

It so perfectly describes a past relationship of mine.

I got a Coldplay album today to try out... have another here somewhere, but not sure I liked it so bought another. 'Parachutes'.

For the most part I like their first album the best. But "The Scientists" is the exception.

if you don't know the Beachboys you might be surprised, but certain bb tunes that are so sweet and tender and get me every time.....

Please dont let me argue anymore
I wont make you worry like before

cant remember what we fought about
(late late last night we said it was over)
but i remember when we fell in love
we both had broken hearts

kiss me baby love to hold you

as i drove away i felt a tear
it hit me i was losing someone dear

told my folks i would be alright
i tossed and i turned my head it was heavy

then i wondered as it got light
were you still awake like me?

kiss me baby love to hold you tight

Yeah, it's simple. gets me everytime. its so sweet and true. with those harmonies, with brian wilson's melody

i remember when we fell in love we both had broken hearts.....

jeez i copied that out by hand listening to the record, what a primitive i am!

here is one more that reliably gets the tears streaming.

Please Let Me Wonder:

Now here we are together
This would've been worth waiting forever
I always KNEW it'd feel this way

And please forgive my shaking
Can't you tell my heart is breaking?
Can't make myself say what I planned to say

Baby
Please let me wonder
If I've been the one you love
Please let me wonder
If I'm who you're dreaming of
Please let me wonder, love

I built all my goals around you
That some day my love would surround you
You'll never know what we've been through

For so long I thought about it
And now I just can't live without it
This beautiful image I have of you

Baby
Please let me wonder
If I've been the one you love
Please let me wonder
If I'm who you're dreaming of
Please let me wonder, love

Please let me wonder
If I've been the one you love
Please let me wonder
If I'm who you're dreaming of
Please let me wonder, love

I love you

Don't scoff if you haven't heard it.

Indeed...excellent choices!

This is the one that gets me the most, because of the connection with my ex. It was ironically our song:

"Nothing Lasts For Long" by The Samples

Take my hand and walk with me
And tell me who you love
Make a wish if you can see
The first star from above

You ever feel so deep and lost
Somewhere in the past
And is it wrong to not hold on
If nothing ever lasts

Maybe nothing lasts forever
Not the mountains or the sea
But the times we had together
They will always be with me

The sun is down and
The wind is calm
As it gently fades away
I wonder then and I think of you
And how nothing ever stays

Take my hand and walk with me
And tell me who you love
Make a wish if you can see
The first star from above

Nothing lasts for long

Nothing lasts for long

Nothing lasts for long

Nothing lasts for long
