I met Paul Merton off Have I Got News For You, (one of my favourite programs!), he was a customer at the storage place I used to work in. He was a very nice person and read the Independant in our reception. I was always very disspointed not to be able to have a proper conversation with him.

My ex boyfriend is a fairly well known music journalist, (if you know about that sort of thing anyway), he introduced me to various people in popular yet shite indie bands like Johnny Borrell from Razorlight and the singer from Hard Fi. It was a running joke whereby I had to pretend to really like their music.

I didn't actually "meet" these people, but I worked for Directv customer service for a long time and got to talk to a few celebrities. The only one who was a pompous ass was a non-celebrity, some VP in charge of pencil sharpening at Fox Sports West 2, or something. Wow, I'm soooooo impressed...

I talked to Miss Cleo! Remember her? She was behind in her payments. And she had one of the cheapest services we offered.

Richard Lewis, the comedian. He was just as nervous and paranoid on the phone as he appears to be in person.

Elizabeth Taylor. She was absolutely regal. I spoke to her minions for most of the call, but the brief moment she talked to me was divine. She needed certain accomodations, channel-wise, per TV, because she was having an Oscar-night party. I broke alot of rules for her.

Met Morris Gleitzman when I was very young, and have met Terry Pratchett twice and got four books signed. I also have occasional correspondence with Dr Karl Kruszelnicki.

Norman Wisdom came in our motorbike shop once so I asked him if he wanted to sit on this particular bike he was looking at.
He did, so I rolled it off the stand and held it for him to sit on.

Ive spoken to Micheal Meetcher about the London Tube bombings being an inside job.

Anne Widecombe about Gordon Bilderberg Browns plans to de-establish the church of England.

Tony Blair nodded at me once as he passed me in a corridor.

Jack Straw held my arm in a gentle gesture when asking how I was.

George Gallaway shook my hand after I commended him on standing up to the American Senate.

Ive seen David Essex and Paula Yates and Eddy Kidd in our bike shop.

Ive spoken to Shirley Bassy.

Been in the same room as Cliff Richard, one of the Stones, The Man from UNCLE, the second Star Trek Captain. Sir Stirling Moss, the tallest man in the world.

Kate Moss said "Hi" to me.

Kilroy Silk shook my hand.

In a courtyard with the President or Prime Minister? of Israel and a load of evil looking Mossad agents.

Spoken to Margaret Thatcher.

Chatted and joked with Tony Benn.

I expect you are all bored by now.

Oh, and, I dunno whether it counts, but I have gotten a webchat question answered by Mark Gatiss and Reece Shearsmith of the League of Gentlemen.

I've actually met Tony Atwood, he was doing some sort of world speaking tour and he talked to me after his speech, he should at least be a celebrity on this board.

I've also met TD Jakes.

EDIT

How did I forget Chuck Norris? He didn't really talk, though.

I was actually diagnosed by Dr Attwood, but I didn't think we meant him as well.

I saw Clint Eastwood at a restaurant once. His daughter was young and started playing with my sister's hair (we were seated right next to them) so his wife apologized and she and my mom talked for a while.

This was 10 years ago or so, I was only 10 and didn't know who Clint Eastwood was, but I say it still counts...

BTW Quatermass, love your avatar - Dylan Moran's awesome!

Jimmy Connors (famous tennis player) stepped on my foot and apologized.

Anne Rice (author) told me I was beautiful.

Tori Amos hugged and kissed me - called me "sweetie".

I met Trent Reznor's dog, Daisy May, and hung out in his studio (nothing records) until 4AM once.

I was an extra in a movie with Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg, & Craig T. Nelson. At lunch, Alec sat down to eat next to me and my friend. He was very very nice and easy to be around. Whoopi was a b*tch, and completely ignored everyone who tried to talk to her. Craig was okay but condescending.

I met Ginger Fish, the (now former) drummer from Marilyn Manson when I was 15. He was very nice.

When I met Danny Lohner of nine inch nails he made it pretty clear that I annoyed him. I took a picture of him rolling his eyes at me. haha!

Maynard James Keenan (of Tool) walked past me and smiled.

zalman schachter-shalomi
david cooper
arthur waskow
gershon winkler
dov-ber pinson
Nehemiah Polen
Goldie Milgrom

probably a few others I'm just not remembering.

I went to high school with Cris Judd (ex Mr. Jennifer Lopez); we were in the same graduating class (Niceville, FL Class of '87). I remember him as being in a class or two of mine, but he was neither a band nor drama geek so I didn't actually know him well. I also went to school with filmmaker Carlos Larkin, but nobody's ever heard of poor Carlos.

When I worked at Universal Orlando, I met Jodie Foster and Barbara Eden and Cedella Marley. I worked there when they were first trying to make Jodie Foster's pet circus-movie project Flora Plum, so Russell Crowe was at one of the soundstages for a while. One of my bosses was scheming to get me a blind date with him, but I dorked out about eating a hot dog once within his field of vision. So, alas, I was never actually introduced; I was too deliciously mortified to let Richard drag me out there anymore. Sigh. I'm sure Russell still thinks back on the ubergeeky woman pointed out to him once in Florida and fantasizes about "what might have been....."

(Hey, don't burst my bubble on this one.)

Also met MaryAnn Mobley, Gary Collins, Doug Hutchison, and I used to take dance classes with a girl named Tammy Ammerson who went on to a role on One Life to Live as a teenager in the late 80s. No idea where she is now.

ETA: Oh, and Anne McCaffrey is a super-beeyotch who hated my anonymous guts for "causing trouble" in her fandom and later on her website. Really, that woman is a piece of work.... <grimace>
