OMW! Long lists! Yay!
I cook, and I don't like pre-packaged food much any more (the stuff I make is so much tastier).
I've become obsessed by sauces recently and have been trying to make almost everything I have a recipe for. They're all amazing. I wish I didn't have a fish aversion because there's a recipe for "Americane" sauce which is fairly complicated (it involves crushing lobsters, straining the liquid through various special sieves, and quite a bit of finicky handling. It looks amazing - bright red and luscious.
I like herbs - I use a lot of different herbs. Rosemary with potato or chicken is wonderful. Sage goes well with eggs. Basil goes well with almost everything
Never met a vegetable I didn't like except for Squash (the texture feels bad to me) and Yams (too sweet). I think peppers are the perfect veggies, though --- so many different kinds, and so many different flavors!
Meat is harder to quantify, since I'm a "Bipolar vegeterian"
I have an itch to learn all the different cuts, but feel a bit adverse to doing so. When I cook red meat, though, I usually go for less expensive cuts and then do crazy marinades or braises.
And I love "overlooked stew", which is what I make when I have a load of stuff in my fridge that I know needs to get used up soon. It's different every time, and even better the next day (all the flavors integrate with the extra time).
