I don't like them for that reason. My cat is terrified of them after a few years ago, when I kept him indoors all evening, waiting until it was quiet, about 11.30 pm, and just as he went outside a huge salvo of bazukas exploded overhead. Poor old puss :(

I don't mind fireworks myself, except the very loud ones, some are so pretty, but I don't like the fact that they scare animals so much.

I lived in a war zone - literally (Middle East) - where missiles were blowing up left and right - with 2 of my cats outdoors while this was going on. I was freaking out by they were very stoic about the whole thing. Like they go into an unconscious mode while all hell breaks loose around them - sort of trance - and it protects them in these situations.

Noise pis*ses me off. Big time. So why? Why even go there when it's not necessary? Planes, cars, trucks, jackhammers - whatever - I am now protected. Eyes too - with shades. That's the way it has to be - so fine - it is. Every once in a while I'll take them out to let my ears breath - and then wouldn't ya know it - a motorcycle comes zooming by.....But most of the time, I'm totally oblivious. Let em all go nuts, I've got Blissful Ears.

You know sometimes I get used to them... I get a little scared of them in bed seeing as I have a natural fear of loud noises and any large BOOMS! or anything to do with fire or weapons... It didn't help when my friend pointed his Legal air gun at me :? :)

Quite alot of the time I don't mind noise... I mean talking is O.K. but are fireworks that nessesary? I like the silent ones are nice(had to edit something)... those ones make a soothing water sound...

Wow... I always wondered about how animals cope in war zones. And humans too, but animals don't understand what's going on. Just shows how the survival instinct protects them. That's amazing!

wish people around here had the same respect for others as in own area.
they have been setting them off here for months,no need for specific celebrations anymore.

is he like that in the house to? if so,he could have some sedatives prescribed.

another problem with fireworks and animals,is the scum who go around attatching fireworks to animals and setting them off, luckily there are not many of these type of scum, but one of them is too many.

It's like a war zone in my village right now :x

The pub has a 'display' being set off in the field at the back of my house and the bangs are so loud I can feel them through the sofa. And my neighbours across the road in front of my house are having a competing 'display' in their garden. Fortunately my dog is used to guns and is asleep next to me. I'll have to go out shortly and check on my horse.

People will be setting off fireworks round here now until mid-January  Waste of money and gunpowder.

He's OK indoors when he hears fireworks, he just puts his ears back, the problem is that he's such an outdoorsy cat, he gets very stressed when he's kept in. It wasn't too bad here last night though, there weren't as many fireworks as usual and it all went quiet by about 10.00pm so I could let him go outside.

Macallan, same here, there is a shop near us that sells fireworks from October to January so this time of year there are sporadic ones going off most evenings.
