Welcome to my strappy strap discussion thread :D

my favorite kind of straps are the kind you see in my avatar... more officially known as positioning harnesses :D *does a little dance*

As you may have seen earlier, i am kind of lucky i have this disease since i dont have to pay for mine on my powerchair. 400-600 bucks for non custom and then 1000-5000 for custom! dang... and here i was hoping i could have loads and loads of straps like doordoctor owns several door closers and has one with her all the time... problem with me is i would have issues with picking ONE strap to have with me... so id just have all of em on me hehe.

Positioning harnesses look really comfy. So, on average, how much do straps weigh?

surprisingly they are not that heavy

on average they weigh anywhere from 1-3 pounds depending on what you get... im pretty sure bodypoint (ones in my avatar) is 2-3 pounds... id have to get a scale :P

I should make a company that does custom ones specifically for autistics :D that would rock. And then i would literally be a god of straps :P

Interesting. I thought they'd be really heavy.

So, what kind of material are straps made of?

You can get them in a few different materials... the only one that i know of is neoprene and or something similar to neoprene... both are extreemely strong.

Personally whatever material it is i love it :D

but some people do complain that if you go out in the rain it becomes heavier and sticks to you (uhh... id actually like that.... sooooooo... yeahh.... uhmmm...)

so offering different materials would be a key poiint in my company :D

What other materials would you make straps out of?

Anything you could think of... id also make sure to put latex and PVC out there since i like the way soft rubbery things feel... you name it and ill make harnesses from it :D

as long as the material does not cause major safety risks like making them from metal would be a no fly...

If you made them out of metal, they'd be shackles, not straps.

So, can straps be made with designs on them?
