Miss Picky, they actually blew up Krema 4 thanks to Roza Robota and her fellow saboteurs. Other Sonderkommandos also blew up crematoriums 2 and 3, or at least parts of them. Half the ovens were permanently out of service after the revolt, so many prisoners were spared the gas chambers due to the slowing down of the ability to dispose of bodies.

Ironically, the cruel tendencies in Nazis did not rule out more humane qualities in them. Both Hitler and Himmler were vegetarians and kind to animals. Hitler even offered gold watches to any officers who could give up smoking.

I think a line from the graphic novel V for Vendetta sums it up. In that comic (instead of the movie), Prothero is a collector of dolls, and V has not only kidnapped Prothero, but also his dolls. When Prothero goes ape-shit over his dolls having been possibly damaged, V remarks "Dashed odd, isn't it? You show so much concern for plastic and porcelain, but so little for flesh and blood." Prothero doesn't die in the graphic novel, instead being driven insane when he watches his doll collection being destroyed in Auschwitz style ovens.

That was so cool of them.

Wait-Somebody blew up little Krema #5, didn't they? At some point?

I seem to remember that.

Have you ever been to any camp anyway? I had an occasion to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau in last year. Btw, speaking about all those things that have something to do with Hitler and stuff like that, yesterday I found it: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3942381/1/J ... _a_Romance  LMAO!

Adolf Hitler's mustache was the way it was because he used to have a full Prussian mustache. During WW1, he had to cut part of his mustache off so that it would fit inside the gas mask, he never changed it after that.

I was at Dachau 2 years ago... only one I've been to.

I think 500 otherwise able-to-work Jewish prisoners at Auschwitz were killed for Hitler's birthday, or was that somewhere else?

Oh Lord, that was weird. And hilarious. But mostly weird.

Oh Lord, I'd love, in a morbid way, to go visit a camp. Heck, I'd love to go to Europe, period. :)

QFT
saying that it rules, is a word that can't fully describe it. This is so weird. I was just telling my guy about yesterday about my interest in the holocaust.

I have been to the memorial museum in Washington DC twice, but never to Germany to see anything but I want to go.

My random fact: Hitler only had one testicle and people often assumed that this was why he was so obsessed with creating the "perfect" race.

That's not funny at all. Even the title suggests that that is undoubtedly the most offensive thing I have ever seen in my entire life. :?

Goebbels had a club foot.
