Are you often accused of things you didn't do?

People blame stuff on me all the time, joking or not. One of my cousins has blamed me for his internet going out when I wasn't even there.

Mostly by my parents. When I was young I'd be the first one blamed by my dad should something happen. My mom blamed/blames all of us really for several of her failures. Otherwise I'm rarely blamed for anything, that I'm aware of anyway.

I used to get blamed for everything, in elementary school, I was always was getting called to the principals office, for something I may have done. Thats the problem with living in a small town, everyone knows your business, and it didn't help being the only adhd kid in class, I would be blamed for things done by the older kids at school. I was so stressed, I would run away instead of going to classes, or just stay home, my dad pulled me out after getting into an argument with the principal and put me into a school in the city, but it didn't help, I was still adhd, and I wasn't on any treatment. After so many years of always getting this treatment, I have grown immune to most of it, and can be very upfront with an accuser, if people are going to be jerks then so will I, if any 711 clerk accused me of refilling a slurpie cup, I would take the cup to them and spill in on their counter then apologize and leave without paying, and I have done that.

I just fear that sometime in the future, I will be harassed by law enforcement for not being conservative.

Where do I start?
Well..it has nto happend that often.

There was this lady who's house my family would always go to for parties.
She had a son, just a tad younger than me.
He had a room full of toys where all the kids would play.
I was accused of stealing some toy soldiers (or something...I am not exactly sure)... that were on a very high shelf. I did not...I had never stolen anything from that room, but the woman was so adamant to my parents that I was the culprit. She would not take no for an answer. Apparently there were several witnesses or something.... ....I think that her insistance and our denial are what eventually resulted in our never going to her parties again.

I was accused of shoplifting at K-mart as a teenager..I had purchased a cd for my mom's birthday and being eco-conscious, i always refused the plastic bags, and just crammed stuff into my VERY crowded purse.
I was dragged to the back and forced to dump out the contents of my purse and sift through the katamari to find the receipt which had settled at the bottom somehow. They could have just had me point out the cashier I bought the thing from They were so nasty about it, even after it was obvious that i had not stolen the CD.

Fast forward to years later. My landlord (from this little rooming house where I used to live) invited me to this Christmas party at this really awesome sort of "Compound" where these "Art Car" people lived.
I did not stay long...drank a beer or two...said hello to a couple of acquaintances and then left...on my bike...

The next year, I was invited to the same party, and um...I wandered around aimlessly...they had an amazing spread of food....and all this other stuff....and I reached a certain point in the yard, when it became apparent that i was being followed. I was then detained and the lady of the house accused me of stealing some sort of big toy iguana from the party last year... Apparently it was of sentimental value and very important to their family.....she said something to the extent of..."there's know use denying that you stole it"..We know it was you...we have witnesses.....
I was very adamant that I did not steal the thing...the lady aknowledged that it would have been difficult for me to carry it on my bike...so i must have had a basket on my bike last year that I did not have now....rediculous!
Anywhoo...I was ejected from the party and apparently this couple made it a habit of telling lots of people about what a thief I was...including my landlord, who tried to defend me......
...and later when we opened Super Happy Fun Land, they made a point of visiting, and supposedly were heard to say that i must have stolen the thing as apparent by the fact that I have alot of toys all over the place... (i was told this by a mutual acquaintance)
I was really sensitive and torn up over this issue.
I once drunkenly confronted the guy and told him how unfair it was to still be accused of something I didn't do after a few years had gone by...and he still acted like i had stolen the thing...saying what an important iguana it was..blah blah blah.....

I am over it now...but it did cause me unnessecary distress at the time.
