Taking a wild guess that most of you have heard of these guys (Mike Patton's original band). I haven't stayed up with the more recent stuff but from what I have heard a lot, I get it.

KOMPRESSOR, not a band, but an artist.

I like them too.

I also like Crass, which is weird taste-wise; they were kind of weird but not exactly shocking. I also like Rudimentary Peni, Drop Dead, The Screamers, Macabre (not that weird to some people), and weirder, more experimental stuff . . .

I don't see how you could consider those bands weird. :?

Some of my favourite songs are "God from Anal" and "Anal by Anal".

Sounds like that band is obsessed with people's butts.

I like Caramell and Basshunter. I have no idea what Caramell's songs are about since they're all in Swedish, but the Speedy remixes make them sound like ADHD chipmunks.

Basshunter is another Swedish artist. I know what his songs are about, since Wikipedia has articles on them. "DotA" is about a computer game called Defense of the Ancients, while "Boten Anna" is about a female IRC user who is mistaken for an IRC bot.

I think they just like to laugh at s**t.

I have no idea, really. One person's strange may be another person's mundane.

I agree with you. Most of the bands I like, I consider strange in one way or another.

The Mars Volta.
I also liked Hella before they got a singer and started trying to be all emo core.
King Crimson.
Pink Floyd.
Sergeant Pepper's is my favorite Beatles album.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor is pretty strange. It's a rock band that plays really intense dramatic movie-score type music. It's so sad that they're not together anymore. None of the other related "post rock" bands are as good IMO.

People think that Merzbow is strange.

For people interested in having their ears hurt, Masonna's Ejaculation Generater (sic) is the most painful album I've ever heard. Seemingly a follower of Whitehouse's tradition of vocal-led power electronics, but with a sound somewhat more akin to Merzbow.

Mono is good too, but I prefer GYBE. GYBE has a lot of darker/scarier sounding movements that I really like.
