Wow, where I live it's the opposite.
Girls are expected to be social, and in one of those stupid "clicky groups" at high school. If you aren't in a group, you are labelled as a loner/reject and sometimes completely ignored.
The guys have it hard, too. Although they aren't expected to be in a group, they are expected to be interested in "typical male things". If they aren't, they are seen as gay or weak.
When people leave high school it doesn't get any easier. There are a few ladies who walk around where I live who are in some way, disabled. They are yelled at and made fun of by ignorant people (usually teenagers) who are walking along the pavement.
There is a disabled man who lives near by me who gets bullied regularly by 13 year olds and once they stole his bike.
From what i've seen, girls and guys have it equally as bad as eachother.
