I love birds. I've never cared much for budgies or cockateils though...budgies are kind of boring, and cockateils are so mean all the time
We had a green-cheeked conure for a while, I thought he was the coolest bird in the world. He hated my brother and my dad, but he really liked me...I wonder if it was because I was always feeding him table scraps at dinner ;D I loved the way he would pick up food with his foot and start munching on it...I'd give him rice and noodles and things.
And mom made him this little cuddle sack...they sell them, but it was cheaper for her to just make one, just a little pouch of fabric that hung from the ceiling of the cage. He'd climb into it at night and go to bed, and in the morning he'd rustle about and then peek his head out =)

Yes. Though it sucks having to deal with bird poop, we would let them out of their cage as often as possible. The budgies would stay in their cage quite often, we'd only let them out to play with them a bit...but the bigger birds we would give pretty free reign. We had this big playpen dad made out of wooden dowels, with ladders and all that fun stuff, they'd play on that a lot, or just climb out of their cage and perch on top of it. We'd keep their wings clipped to prevent them from flying all over the house...but we never had to with the conure, he just...didn't really know how to fly, I guess?
