Oh, that hate..
I'm sick and tired of everyone around me, always thinking they are right, backed up by their f#cked up peers; I want to be arrogant and evil. I hate these people.
I listen to the best music, my opinions are usually right, f#ck the majority and worship the minority. If someone says they are special, punch them in the face.
That was partly a joke but some of it is the truth, or a far extreme version of the truth.

Nicely put.
I can't grasp the music of rap. It has nothing to do with the words or the culture behind it -- it just sounds like noise to me. I hear no melody. The same goes for heavy metal that consists largely of screaming or 'death rattles'. You don't sound badass, man, you sound like the cookie monster.
Music that is largely appealing to people as background noise does not interest me because I detest having music in the background as opposed to listening to it with my full attention.
Most country music bothers me because of the odd warbling style of the vocals. What are you doing with your voice? Stop it. The instrumentals were so pretty, and you just ruined it. :[
I think its really interessting with the differences there, something in our heads
makes us like it or not. For example, we are nothing alike when it comes to rap,
and I must have music or something on all the time when I work or something like that, or I get stressed and its hard to concentrate. But most likely there are other things we both like.
I Understand what you mean with this:
"What are you doing with your voice? Stop it. The instrumentals were so pretty, and you just ruined it. :[ "
Lots of good music thats ruined by bad volcals on the side.
Well, after 23 years I noticed: It is not that I hate music, it is almost as if the relationship didn't begin too well and now we just know each other and try to keep our distance, I have been hurt by other hobbies plenty of times in the past so I try not to get anything more than a casual relationship with her.
Really, there's nothing more frightening to me than the question "what kind of music do you like?" I think that answering that question would reveal me as the weirdo since I know NTs out there do love some music kinds and artists.
In reality I do like some songs, but I have never been a real fan of certain music genres or artists. So, being honest to tell them that I really have no answer for that question makes me feel as I am odd.

Doesnt seem odd to me, so your`re not alone. I can have a little problem with the "what kind
of music do you like" question, beacuse some people react as if I said domething wrong
when I mention something they dont like, they begin to argue (? so I guess they know better then me what I like then. ok, makes no sense.). So then I just get bored in
10 seconds flat and get out of there. I hear what they saying, but it makes little sense to me.
I understand that they like something I dont like maybe, so I really dont see a problem there.
But some just insist on making one for some reason.
And dont say "because its bad", that I have heard before and I dont agree.
I listen to everything, there are no limits, but I often hear people saying
that they hate on or two type of music.
It would be interesting to hear you describe what it is thats not good. Because
to say that one type of music is bad, is just bad. Theres always someone
somewhere who like what you hate, and you are no more right than that person.
So, whats with the "hate" What have music done to you? Why does it "feel" bad?
I love it all, everything. No hate towards music from me.
Because it's bad and annoys me is a good enough reason for me. Your agreement is not needed for me to reach an opinion on this issue or any other. Why would my taste in music concern you so much?
..I dont understand what you mean..? My agreement to what? Please answer,
because you seem annoyed and I dont know why.
What I mean is that I can choose to hate certain sh***y music just because I want to. If something feels bad, then it simply feels bad to people without regard to whether or not you approve of their decision. Would you dare tell Aspies with sensory issues that they must listen to music that affects them like nails on a chalkboard? How about telling people that they must leave the tags on their T Shirts? Are you going to try to tell me what I must listen to? Freedom of choice is also freedom to detest that which one finds odious. To reiterate, I do not care whether you like or agree with my taste in music or the type of clothes I wear. I did not just leave this thread, I posted before going to work and now I came back to see whether or not you are still trying to convince people that they are wrong for making their own choices as to what they consider good or bad. Did God die and leave you in charge of what people can think about music?

Well, I hate music that isn't pretty in any way, but claims to be music any way.
For example.
Rap.
There is nothing about rap that inspires positive emotions in me. The combination of lyrics and notes is never harmonious, or for the most part well crafted. It has no vibe, no emotion, no skill, and is usually in bad taste.
I don't find listening to some guy rant rapidly and roughly into a mirco phone while a boom boom boom throbs in the back ground.
Its just annoying to me. All he's doing is talking, really. There isn't any ... Music. Melody. Combination of harmonious notes that get to together and make me happy, or make my ears tingle.
Its just ranting to me, white noise.
I hate it.
HATE it.
And then, there will be things that are poorly made. Lyrics that seem not to fit properly into a song.
Or words that are half formed by the singer, thats just cheap.
When I listen to music, I expect it to be like a piece of art. Finely tuned, perfectly made.
A skill, a craft, something that has a lot of effort put into it, something that works cohesively and is beautiful.
Something with a message, something with rhythm.
Not just boom boom booom, I want to rape girls.
Blah.
I hate rap.
But then too, I hate some music when it just doesn't suit the mood.
Its like trying to cram a key into my head thats the wrong size, then insisting on twisting it and jangling it.
It goes against my grain, and hurts my ears. Drives me nuts.
But, on the opposite end, when I get just the right song for the right moment, it makes me very happy and calm.
Most metal music is an art, although it depends what you listen to. Technically, some of the musicians are amazing, and I love an intense drummer!
Music, as well as being a mathematically calculated series of beats/rythms, is also an artist's medium of sending a message across to an audience. I. myself, don't usually listen to lyrics...
Well, erm, I like death metal growls and roaring and stuff like that; it adds extra bass, rythm and feeling to a song. What's great is when it is mixed with actual singing, but I still like it on it's own, just perhaps not as much.
Just because a tune has rough vocals, it doesn't make it any less of a piece of art, and don't forget, a lot of that type of music is highly original. On the other hand, like I have already said, it depends on what you have listened to:
Let's just say that maybe you have a very good reason not to like metal if you think it is a genre that is clearly defined by the following bands:
Slipknot: Yaya I'm 12! look at me I'm so cool.
Or, I'm older and it's kinda a gateway into the world of heavy music (soon learning that the only good thing about Slipknot is showmanship and the stage performance.)
Korn: Yaya I'm 12! But there are a couple of songs that are passable, in my opinion.
Limp Bizkit: Sorry Wez, you'll have to put up with some idiot rapper for a while, it's a shame really because you have some neat ideas.
Metallica: Lets ham the whole thing up shall we? We have to sell more records! Woohoo we've made it into mainstream!
Although, I do like some of their older songs (not the very oldest.)
Metal music makes my day, doom metal; that sad music I really need; really connects with me.
But anyway, that's all Ive to say. Plus
ISIS
OPETH
DREAM THEATRE
MASTODON
BURZUM
AKERCOCKE
Are all examples of very artistic and orginal composers.
Oh, and may I add, you can hear changes in tone even with the harshest vocals.

I like Opeth a lot. Their music still appeals to me even though I've quit listening to 99% of other bands with screaming vocals. You simply just can't compare Opeth with Cannibal Corpse (for example). They use screaming vocals for different reasons. Opeth uses screaming vocals to show the parts of their songs that are filled with strong emotions (like sadness or rage) while Cannibal Corpse scream so that little kids will think they are bad and buy their records.
Out of the other bands you listed:
Isis - Never heard them
Dream Theater - Used to listen to them (I might start listening to them sometime in the future again)
Mastodon - I had one of their albums a few years ago and thought it was listenable but not really my style
Burzum - I liked a few of their songs but they got me really depressed
Akercocke - Never heard of them
For example.

There are some melodies and dont like, but hate? that I will never understand it feels like.
This is what I dont get sometimes, some hate it and say its bad. I understand
but to say its not music? its not music to you, theres alot of other people who likes
it and there are people who roles around in cash because people like it.
I just wish people would open up a little sometimes, I dont mean you should
listen to someyhing you dont like, i mean to just realize that there are differences,
And you mention something about "raping girls" here, I dont see what that has to do
with music, that is the lyrics, why would people risk missing a great tune just
because they for some reason are against some spesific words? I`m just thinking
loud here, no arguing or anything like that, I just try to understand things and people better,
and this music-thing is getting weirder and weirder to me. I notice a lot of people
worry about lyrics, words, im just trying to understand why, thats all, it makes so little sense
to me and would like to just "understand" it or "get it".
I notice I`m getting annoyed because people just want stop talking about the scary
lyrics. Its so stressing, i like music, words dont have that much important to me
when it comes to music. I hope people arent blocking things out because of fear
or something else.
And dont say "because its bad", that I have heard before and I dont agree.

What is your problem?
I started a thread to talk about music. I have no interest in trying to make others
listen to anything they dont want to. I want to talk about music to hear
what people thinks and likes.
Next time, use your head before you write anything to me.
You are boring me and waisting my time. I dont care what you
like, i wanted to hear what you think about music, what it does for
you. How is that wrong? Tell me please.

You write as if I care what you do. At this point I dont care about what
you do at all. But if you want to talk about music, im interested.
I cannot belive all the hate and bull thats comes out of a thread like this,
this is just to dumb. Forget it, let it die. This is mind-numbingly boring,
and that was not what I wanted at all. I guess the best thing here is to
be close-minded and afraid of words. I guess people watch too much Mtv
or something, I dont know what the problem is or why people make one.
I aint comming to this thread no more. Unbelivabel. What are people thinking with.
I hope people dont think they know something about things they block-out completly.
Free your mind - whats the worst thing that could happen anyway, you learn something
maybe? Thats ok with me, have it your way. Just dont "attack" people that like things
you dont. It must be irritating to know how many millions of $ some guys make from
something so bad. They`re swimming in it because of something you "hate".
And one thing, many of these people are adults, twice as smart as you and they give
more to charitys that helps kids and such every year then you will ever make in a lifetime.
Suck on that.
