It was 36 degrees c here on Sunday, and it's probably at least 25 here right now.

It's hotter than hell in Norway at the moment. For the past week, the avereage temperature has been around 32 degrees celcius. It's not usually like that though. Around the norwegian coastline the temperature is usually 15-25 degrees in the summer and 2-10 degrees in the winter.

I am jealous.

As you will read in some earlier posts, Norway is my country of dreams and especially the north of Norway. Actually, one of my biggest dreams in life is to move to Tromsø, my city of dreams. I would love to live above the polar circle, cities like Murmansk, Kirkenes, Tromsø, Longyearbyen, etc highly attract me. I guess I am just weird, the polar area and the Middle East are my big travel obsessions and have been since childhood, they still fascinate me a lot after all those years. Biggest problem is employment, finding a job in Norway is very difficult when not speaking Norsk and in the north it is even harder than in the south of Norway. Praise yourself lucky to live in a place like Finnmark, I am jealous :(

Well.. the chance of even me finding a job here is slim to none.. so lucky? I don't think of it like that.. plus all the freezing.. brrrr.. I just can't stop saying it!!

The warmest temperature we had for today was 9 degrees C.

I HATE THIS PLACE!! ! X2

If you like Berlin (where I live) I would happily swap places. I would LOVE to live above the arctic circle.

I have tried finding a job in Norway before. Problem is that all jobs are down south in Oslo-Stavanger-Bergen, and most employers will demand a perfect knowledge of Norwegian. I can read some Norwegian and speak some words, but to learn the language fluently I'd need to move first and speak it every day. But to make the move I need a job first ... The vicious circle. I hope to realise the dream someday though.

PS: Rosenborg are my favourite football team. Any of you Norwegians are fans as well? 8)

Thats about the same temperature range as Tasmania.

What form of heating do you use in winter?

I just use electric heating, but I also live in the middle of my apartment building, so I'm pretty well isolated and I also get my share of the heating of my neighbours.

It is said that the norwegian climate is almost like the New Zealand climate. We use fireplaces, electric ovens etc. Heat pumps are also selling well, and they were even subsidized by the government during a power crisis a couple of years ago.

Heat pumps are used here as well.
