AnAlias, you sound just like me, haha! I agree with you, I’m probably borderline. I think that’s generally what “gifted” refers to, though, you know? Anyway I used to have this game based around a character called Rockett, and basically what you had to do was get her through a day at school, or a slumber party, or whatever. The way it worked was that some character would talk to you and then you had choices as far as how to respond, and then that affects the story. For example:
Jessica approached Rockett. “What are you WEARING?” she said with a scowl on her face.
1. “Oh it’s the latest fashion from Paris. Don’t you love it?”
2. “It’s my favorite blue sweater.”
3. “You don’t like it? Maybe I should go change!”
As you can imagine…I spent hooooours trying every itsy bitsy combination of answers. Or I’d go through and do all the “snobby” answers. And then I’d go through and do all the “nice” answers. I’m pretty sure I spent way more time playing that game than anybody else, haha.
I had a very similar game as a kid that involved getting a boy through one day at school. I think I went through every single possible combination of answers before I got bored with it. Now I play choose your own adventure games
here. (don't you just love how this site doesn't have any way of highlighting links?) As I can imagine, I am very particular about finding every single possibility of choices and finding every single page and how to get to it. There is one game in particular that has several thousand pages that has kept me quite occupied

. Also, has anyone else noticed that right from the beginning we have had exactly the same number of "yes" and "yes, obsessively answers," and we have yet to have anyone pick "no"?
