""If the chap was accused of rape and served his time, I'd think about it. He might have been drunk or something""

Feel like mentioning that being drunk is not an excuse for not beeing able
to keep it in the pants. The excuse "i was drunk" dosen`t work as an excuse
for anything for me when i think about it...who got you drunk? ah..... I could be
wasted and not being able to stand, having to move using only my front teeth and i
still wont do anything i wouldn`t do when sober when it comes to things like this. Rape
is a lack of selfcontrol, no excuse for that. Rapists get my blood boiling, its such a weak, selfish, filthy thing to do.

Not really. My workplace does not even allow children into the facility. Employers who pay for background checks simply don't want criminals of any kind in their workplace.

Some places do hire people who have criminal backgrounds. How do I know? I have read about it.

It depends on the job and the severity of the crime. Some people wind up on the sexual offenders list because of one stupid mistake they made, and deeply regret.

However if they repeat their crimes while working for me I will personally make sure they are brought to justice.

I don't hate sexual offenders because I've sworn off hate entirely. Sometimes they need to be locked away for the protection of others. And in the end I'd much rather them redeem themselves then see them dead at my feet.

If they are a registered sex offender, I would want to be able to dig deeper to find out why. If I couldn't, then I would simply cross them off my list of applicants to bring in for an interview.

Of course. There are plenty of criminals out there with jobs but most places who want to know someone's criminal background want to know for a reason and they will not hire them.

I just checked for the area code where I live, and there are no registered sex offenders.

Sex offenders, vis-a-vis pedophiles, fit a certain profile. They are usually unmarried.

It's fascinating to see peoples responses to this. One in particular, sex offence, practically kill them and torture them. When in prison, and the other inmates find out, they would torture them until release day. This is interesting as by this time the courts have ruled the sentence timing for a reason. Releasing on the belief and hope that the person will see and learn from this. What is to stop hiring them. Why go on being tortured?
Why go to school to be bullied, then go to work, be bullied, go home be bullied. This act would drive anyone insane to the point where the actions of others will drive that person to the point of no return.
The typical response "I told you that was going to happen, they are not safe"
People learn. Others do not, everyone is not the same in this world. The people on here should know that. Those that are saying eternal torture are no better than the offender themselves and may very well be worse.

As an employer, I would probably employ, but would use caution around other employees. I would make them earn respect and trust before I treat them like any other there. Of course, I would not look too kindly on a repeat offence. I would not treat them guilty permanently because they been arrested and taken to the police station. This means nothing in itself.
This is where many people fail, because someone is arrested of a crime - they are automatically guilty before a court has done anything, people have made their minds up without evidence

I have been fired and banned from Wal-Mart for supposedly threatening someone with violence (or maybe the whole store, they weren't very clear when they were explaining the false charges to me.) But basically, when I tell people that I was fired, the first question out of their ignorant mouths is, "what did you do?" They pretentiously assume I did anything, and I hate that. I also dislike it when interviewers ask, "have you ever been fired?" - Good Grief: I either lie or not get the job, and I can't lie and nobody believes me when I tell the truth!! ! This system is moronic.

Not all registered sex offenders are child molesters or serial rapists. I don't know about your state, but in Michigan, I was checking the registry, and most of the crime descriptions are so incredibly vague, it seems like you could get a record just for shouting "penis" really loud in public, not to mention taking a leak in an alley.
