As a child, I feared thunder storms. As an adult, I fear them EVEN MORE!! to such an extent that it's a MASSIVE phobia.

Childhood:
The dark
The flowers on the curtains in my parents' room - they were purple roses, and I could see all kinds of weird nasty little goblin faces in them
The skeleton in volume 2 of my brother's encyclopedias (I wouldn't even go near the bookcase)
The wood near the end of the school playing field (although that wasn't just me; everyone 'knew' a witch lived there, but I think I took it more literally than most)
Planes flying overhead when I was outdoors
One particular spot on the river in the village my dad grew up in
My dad yelling at me
My mother yelling at me
The toilet flushing (I thought it would swallow me up)
Anything weird happening to time (I was a big Dr. Who watcher, but the monsters didn't scare me nearly as much as the idea of time getting warped or stuck)
Dead birds (that was after some kid at school told me if I touched one I'd die, and I believed him)
Worms
Dentists
People not understanding me, rejecting me
The thought of never getting married and having to stay with my parents all my life

Adult:
Being alone in the dark (OK if someone's with me)
Wasps (I sat on one in high school)
Maggots
A particular type of man in a particular type of suit (it's ex-husband stuff, I can't really explain)
One spot on the river under the trees in the town my husband grew up in (it's a combination of tree shadows, total solitude and being on a tiny piece of land totally surrounded by water...I got the same feeling on a small island in the middle of a river in Dorset once. I also have occasional nightmares about floods, or being on a bridge that's sinking into the water. Yet, I'm perfectly OK in boats. Go figure.)
Being poor and destitute
Being sick or injured and ending up paraplegic
Getting pregnant and being forced to have a baby
Having to live on a sink estate and risk getting knifed, bricks thrown through the windows etc.
My family finding out how disgustingly messy I really am
Being somehow, legally forced to be my mother's carer (can't happen in the UK but I still worry about it sometimes)
Being anything like my mother
Anyone reading my most private journals
The universe actually really being set up the way some of the religious folks in my life have claimed it is, and nobody having any right of appeal against it
Surprise parties
Any party where I don't know anyone
Anything where I'm expected to get up and speak in front of people without preparation
The Large Hadron Collider destroying the universe
A fascist government taking over
Fat hatred
Some jobsworth deciding that I look too weird and suspicious to be allowed into the USA
People not understanding me, rejecting me

...They say writing down fears is good because it gets them 'outside' of you. It's only when I write mine down that I realize how many I have.

I'm scared of slimy creatures (snails and so on). I'm also scared of drowning and dying alone. Apart from that there's not much I'm scared of.

As a child, I was scared of the dark, heights and looking into people's eyes.

This, the face of pure evil:

Tøfflus - Die and rot in hell you filthy sock
Image

Yep, its a sock. But when this creature appeared on kiddy-tv when i was
a kid, popped its head out of that box and said "hello", i was behind the couch
before you could say damn. A tremendous feeling of fear came over me,
something was very very wrong with this sock, i just couldn`t put my finger
on what it was. But it was evil, that i was sure of, pure evil :) Unfortunatly
no one else shared my view, it was "cute". Cute my ass, evil i say! evil! :)
I watched the show for one reason, the hope that one day that sock would
snuff it for good in some sort of freak accident so i could sleep at night knowing
it was gone :) (kinda wish i was kidding, but nope)

Besides Tøfflus, nothing comes to mind right now that i fear/feared, used to have
some fears, spiders, heights, your basic caveman-residue, and some others but
worked through them and snuffed them out for good, they were only in the way,
holding me back or something

Hmm..come to think of it, Tøfflus is probably laying around on a shelf
in some storage unit belonging to the tv-company...that means he`s
still alive 8O just laying there, waiting and plotting...

Thats it! im gonna hunt this sock down and break its tiny sock-neck
once and for all!! The hunt is on! Tøfflus, your going down!!
wonder if this is what they call "facing your fears", hunting down
and viccously killing a sock puppet

edit--
i thought of one fear, to fall on my face and become a hardcore
drug addict again, just the thought of that life send chills down my
spine. Not that i think that will happen and really fear it, but theres
something nightmare-ish about it
