There is a place near Amarillo where one can eat a 72-oz. steak for free--if he/she eats it, and all the sides, and the bread, in one hour.

If he/she fails, then it's about $70.

It's illegal to pump your own gas in NJ,

I go out of my way not to buy gas in New York, and it ain't for the higher price.

My riding, somewhere in the province of Manitoba, is the first riding to elect a quadriplegic MP.

Loving County, northwest of the Midland-Odessa area, has only 67 people as of the 2000 census. It is the least populous county in the U.S.

The only town, Mentone, has no stoplights, and the only buildings, save for a few houses, are the courthouse and a cafe.

There are no schools, students attend classes in Wink, in Winkler County.

Newfoundland was the last province to join Canada. It was also the only place in North America to see Nazi combat in WWII

Texas is the only state to have previously been an indepependent nation (from 1836 to 1845).

You have forgotten that Hawaii was an independent nation for over 100 years, from 1795 to 1898.

California and Vermont were also de facto independent nations (California briefly in 1846 and Vermont from 1777 to 1791) although unlike Hawaii and Texas, other nations never recognized them.

Contrary to popular belief, Texas did not become a "red" state until 1978, when we elected Bill Clements as governor.
