I'm from Canada and never travel outside of Ontario province.

I've been to America, Massachusetts to be exact

Canada sounds nice.

i want to travel the world! sing to the mountains! see the mighty waters of the deep! fly with the sheep and graze with the cows! mooshy forever!! ! suck out all of its marrow and beat it to a pulp! tasty marrow...tasty pulp...

I love traveling. I'm from Long Island, NY, USA and I have been to:

Antigua and Barbuda; Aruba; Bahamas; Barbados; Bermuda; British Virgin Islands; Canada; Cayman Islands; Denmark; Estonia; Finland; France; Germany; Greece; Grenada; Haiti; Italy; Jamaica; Martinique; Mexico; Monaco; Netherlands; Netherlands Antilles; Norway; Puerto Rico; Russia; St. Kitts and Nevis; St. Lucia; St. Martin; Spain; Sweden; Turkey; United Kingdom; United States; US Virgin Islands; Vatican City.

I would love to travel, but lack the funds as yet. But doing my part to melt the ice caps, one of my great joys in life is navigating my way to parts unknown in my car.

Where in Norway have you been?

By the way, I forgot the Vatican on my list of countries...

I love traveling though I have never been more than 460 miles (740 kilometers) away from home.


Kinda off topic, but I'm obsessed with Norway and I think that you Norwegians are lucky that you get to live there.

The best thing about Norway is the welfare state, I think. Besides, the west coast is quite beautiful. On the negative side is that it is far to north. To long winters. The summers here are great, though. Long days, and not to hot in the summer.

I live in America, the state of Georgia. I like that Norway is far to the north - it gets way too hot where I live and I like the cold.

You could move here, you know. I would strongly recommend Bergen (unless you hate rain, that is). I am originally from eastern Norway myself, but I prefer the west. Bergen is a very charming city. The city centre is actually quite small, considering that there are 250.000 people living in Bergen. There arte many nice, narrow streets up along the Fløyen mountain. If I shall remain in Norway, Bergen is the best place. At least, I would not move further away than the neighbouring municipalities.

I would move to Norway - but I've read that it's hard to get a job there for people who can't speak Norwegian (I'm not sure how true that is though). I figured I would visit Norway, decide if I want to live there, learn Norwegian, then move.

I Wiki'd Bergen, looks nice. Can you tell me anything about Oslo? And what did you mean earlier by "welfare state"?

I dont know whether it is difficult to get a job if you dont know the language. Until recently it was generally VERY easy to get a job, due to very low unemployment. But due to the current downturn in international markets, I guess that might start to change.

Oslo is ok. I have lived there a couple of times. There are good opportunities to get out in the nature, if you like that. Personally, I prefer the eastern part of Oslo, as the west are a bit dominated by snobs. Apart from that, I am not sure what to say about Oslo. Its ok enough, but Bergen is far better in my opinion.

What I mean with the welfare state is the social security system, with for instance very cheap medicare. If you are ill, there is a maximum of about 280 US dollars to pay every year. TIf you get ill, there are relatively generous pension systems and so on. Women get time of from work after giving birth with full pay. I am not sure how long time it is, but I think it is somewhere between half a year and a year. Personally I have got a disabilty pension and get about 28.000 US dollars every year. Last year I think I paid only about 800 US dollars of this in direct tax.

I`ll just point out one thing, Oslo is a cest-pool,

Job, shouldn`t be a problem. Never had any difficulty finding
a job and the only papers i have is my birthcertificat (seriously),
so its not so hard i think.

The first time I lived in Oslo, I absolutely HATED it. But then I lived more to the west and I studied at the university. The second time I lived in the inner part of the east (Tøyen/Grønland) and I studied at a library school. The people of that school was more social. The first time I felt TOTALLY lost. I think for people with Asperger, Oslo is not so good. In Bergen, people are far more friendly. For me, Bergen has the perfect size. I have to live in a town of a certain size. I couldnt live in a small village. There I would feel even MORE like a deviant. And there are not enough tings happening there. But I dont like to large places either. Somewhere between 100.000 and 300.00 is quite perfect for me, I think.
