considering that I spend prolly 80% of my day listening to music and change the music on my mp3 about 2 times a week so I have new songs it would be good for me.

It's cool if I'm just walking around the block or trying to ignore people I don't want to listen to by playing a bunch of songs without having to switch them.

But I hate it when I'm looking for a certain song I want to listen to and I have to keep skipping and skipping and skipping until it almost gets to where I've changed my mind. So I just go back to my CDs or MP3s.

When I had a job, I would just put about six hours' worth of MP3s on my 2 gig MP3 player (reencoded them to be able to fit entire discographies) and swapped them out whenever I decided I wanted to listen to something else that night. Then at about 5 AM I'd switch to the radio and listen to this morning talk show/news thing they had that I really liked.

I have a 4gb ipod , a 60gb classic, and 2 creative mp3 players. The small ipod is full and so are the mp3 players. I listen to music for the better part of my 8 hour work shift, five days a week, so I like a variety, the volume at which I listen to the music depends on whats going on around me.

Since I end up listening to the same songs over and over again, yes I see no point in 1000+ songs on an Ipod. Or having one in the first place.

If I did, probably no more than 100+.

For me I don't see the point. I have nearly 150 songs NO WHERE NEAR 1000+. IMO I find it silly. :-) Does anyone else agree? I am getting an Ipod Touch 16GB but mainly due to Apps and I can play movies unlike my Shuffle one guy on Youtube with a couple movies,1000+ songs and 30Apps he had 7GB left so I'll HAVE TONS left LOL! :-)

I have a 60 gig. I store video lectures on it, pictures, and songs. I have a very diverse taste in music so I have everything from classical to jazz to pop to rock. My tastes change from day to day. So one day I only want to listen to rock, then next day I will only listen to classical.

Also I can store all my music on it. So when my harddrive failed in September I only lost my Christmas music.

Also when I go to visit friends I can sample some of their music and if I like it then I buy my own CDs. It is how I discovered half of the artists I like.

I have 4200 songs. I have only downloaded 15 from Itunes. The rest were from friends, CDs, free Itunes samples, etc.

My personal audio device has a limit of 650 audio tracks. Everytime I get a new CD, I have to decide which tracks to remove from the device in order to make way for the new ones. Sometimes I get quite angry about it.

So NO, I need as much space as possible. Even if I don't constantly listen to everything I've got, there will be instances when I want to listen to something but won't have it with me.

The reason I won't get a device with larger storage: Everything that's produced now seems crappy to me. The Rockbox-centric device that's being developed would be my purchase, if it were available yet.

I have about 200 songs, but only because I just started buying CDs a few months ago.

4877 songs and counting...and that's after i did my monthly spring clean (i spend a day listening to everything on the ipod and delete everything that doesn't make the grade)

i download about a gig of stuff a month easily, i'm one of these folks who actively seeks out new, interesting music...(or crazy obscure old stuff) so i need at least a 30Gig ipod...i have a few funny episodes of homestar runner on there aswell ^.^

yeah, i'm a music obsessive ^.^

Unless you like every type of music, I don't see a point. I'm perfectly fine with 80 songs.
