It's my understanding that jigsaw puzzles - the ease with which they can be put together - is associated with the right hemisphere of the brain (has to do with shape recognition and so on). Recall comments made about ADHD Inattentive and jigsaw puzzles by C. Thomas Wild in his How To (understand) book (1981) about ADHD/also his ADHD Series (of lectures) where he reports putting together jigsaw puzzles was a little easier when he took a FDA approved medicine called Tirend (contains caffeine - 100 mg/other ingredients)(not a cure). Part of this idea of recognizing shapes, for some persons, can enter the area of apraxia - constructional apraxia.

There's programs that will turn your pictures into puzzles for you to solve. I used to play this all day long in 2004. 
I lose interest easily because my brain can't do it on the really hard ones, and the really hard ones are so awesome, odd looking, and have awesome pictures! Though I used to do the 100 puzzle piece ones I think it was. The small ones with the little kittens, doggies, and such!
