Well, it's hard to relate to abstract numbers. If you've seen a dead person (casket or otherwise), you multiply that observation by numbers.

It was Stalin who said ' a single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic'

But it sounds more like there isn't enough empathy, or there'd be less war.

Funny how many Vietnam War veterans who actually fought in real life and saw the horrors of war are usually of the opinion that war sucks and is pointless.

Yet armchair cowboys who's only experience with war is playing first-person shooter video games in the safety and comfort of their suburban homes (or watching war documentary films) are somehow always ready to proclaim how awesome they think armed conflict is.

You think war is awesome? Sign up for the military, and put your money where your mouth is.

That's still too empathetic for me. I view one death as a statistic, and thousands of deaths as a positive demographic change.
