Yes, there are many words that bother me. Some because of how they sound being said ("packet" annoys me-yet "pocket" & "picket" are okay, though). Other words because of what they mean-can't think of a neutral example right now. There are words/phrases that obfuscate, make communication less meaningful-indirectness (on a case-by-case basis) may really offend & infuriate me.
Does there need to be a separate thread on this in Mature or MembersOnly, so I can use swear words/coarse slang ? I've got a list but don't want to catch heat for it being "R-rated" or beyond. Please advise ?

Ooh, OOH! And I especially hate the words squishy, mushy, and hungry. Especially if somebody tries to use all of them in a sentence

The same goes for me. I've made it seem like I was apologizing for making mistakes, when I was really apologizing to my Folks for being the way that I am. I've been wallowing in Self-Pity, until this time, Last Week. I've decided to toughen up, and now that I understand myself better, I don't apologize, unless I step on somebody's toes, or I bump into them. If a person is going to apologize for every little thing, or even worse, for being the way that they're meant to be, than they have no Backbone and they might as well be in Hell.

I hate words that end in an apostrophe, especially when used for advertising, such as "finger lickin' good" Rubs my nerves raw every time. I hate when people misspell "its". I don't like made-up words, like "blog".

I'm glad to hear that, I'm trying very hard to do the same.

To remain on topic: I dislike the use of the word 'do' as in let's do lunch, let's do shopping etc

Absolutely hideous.

"belly," or worse, "tummy." I think it's a body-image thing that i hate those words.

"chuckle" (again, a body image thing) and "giggle," i also hate. I don't think I ever use any of these words save possibly the latter in anything I write, either.

lol at the word "preggers." does anyone actually USe that???

I hate the word 'cuddle" too. It's not only too "cute" in maning but also in actual sound.

I absolutely hate any type of language use where the speaker thinks they're being clever and they're really being obnoxious and demeaning.
A good example would be the use of words like "preemie". There is nothing cute about a premature infant who is struggling for their life by being born too early.
Also, there is no such thing as a "grocery buggy". It is a SHOPPING CART! (although I would be willing to settle for "basket".)
Another example would include trite phrases that should be obsolete like "sorely missed".
However, I think what angers me the most are phrases used by "small talkers" like the question, "Are you working HARD or HARDLY working?" I was once asked this at work by somebody and replied, "None of your danm business!" I "danm" near lost my job over it, too, but such language is so abrasive to my personality, I feel I deserve better treatment and am definatly above it. Heck, I even find "How are you?" highly offensive when used as a "small talk". Again, unless I'm married or related to someone, it's none of their danm business how I am doing. Why can't someone just ask "Are you busy today?" or even "Are things here going well?"
