(A week after but) congratulations, Ducasse.

Um.... haircut? Yeah, later on in this week I'm going to let my (long) hair be cut also. Why do I dislike going to the hairdresser so much, I wonder? I have had this all my life. Don't know, I just hate sitting passively in from of a mirror, I guess, plus people bothering/ fidgeting(?) close around my face.... argh. But it has to be done, new job soon so it's better.

Here's a photo of me with my Beatles h-do. It's a little longer still at the moment.

(A bit vain, I suppose, dropping a photo but hey.... lets say, an indication. Maybe I'll post one after I've had it cut in the appropriate thread)

hairdressers...i haven`t been to a hairdresser
since 1998 or something 8O i cut me own hair :)
because as you say, sitting in front of a mirror while
people fidget and wave sharp tools around me, no thanks.
...not claiming it looks good or that i shouldn`t go to a
hairdresser, i`m only claiming that i cut it myself

Same here, I cut my own hair as well. Well, the part that goes in front of my face, that is. If I could do the rest myself, I would, I'm sure.

Yeah thats the tricky part, the backside :)
holding a mirror and using that to look
into another mirror and at the same time
operating scissors and cutting even is
no easy task :) But, i have sort of found
a tequnice that works, leaning forward, tilting
the head downwards so all the hair hangs down,
then cut it. Takes some practise to get it even

Mine's a crewcut a la Sinead O'Connor. It's easy to take care of.

I used to grow my hair out to its full length -- just past my buttocks. I cut the bangs myself. I looked great, but was such a pain to take care of that one day I chopped off my ponytail and then went to the hairdressers and had them cut it properly. I've never regretted it. :D

^Is it really that short? 8O

I buzz mine down to 1/4" and then let it grow out for a couple months. Then I repeat as necessary.

I've had my hair at like every end of the spectrum. Right now it's pretty short, about a half-inch. Before it was about medium length, but super curly, and before that I was totally bald. Back when my hair used to be straight I had it down past my shoulders. Those happy days are long gone. :afro: < me before i got it cut haha

when I was in college I actually had a heinous wh***y afro that was proportionally close to as big as the one in that emoticon

nowadays I do the same as jawbrodt but not that short, usually I'll buzz to like 5/8" in the summer, 3/4" spring and fall and 1" in the winter. Never really thought about it but I really do cut my hair like clockwork 4 times a year with the seasons.

Yep. I don't know how short it is in inches (or a fraction thereof  ), but I have them use a number 2 1/2 guard on the clippers.
