I remember my toys. A huge LEGO box and and a green model car. I had a play phone too. It was big, like a brick. Or maybe it was a old broken phone.
And i remember when i saw a bad dream. It was exactly like real-life, exept that there was a angry wolf or a dog coming behind the furnace and he wanted to eat me, but i put my foot in his mouth and he couldnt hurt me. I was sleeping in the same room with my syster. But in the dream i was sleeping in my sisters bed. It is the only dream i can remember in a sharp image. Others are kinda blurry.
Also i remember when my mother went to a field. She had potatoes there.. or smthing. It was a long walk. My sister was with us.

I remember the way teething rings felt in my mouth, and the taste of the baby mush. I'll probably think of more later and have to edit this.

I remember watching the first gulf war (august 1990-february 1991) on TV. It only lasted part of the year I was one. I learned to talk really early on, so by that point I was able to ask what they were doing. I didn't understand what countries were, so when my dad explained it to me I thought Iraq was a company or something that was misbehaving.

I also remember the colour of the kitchen floor in the house I first lived in, which we moved out of just after I turned two, and the wallpaper in my room.

886: lmao XD

Hmm..
I remember doing a total face-plant in a parking lot. XD;; I still have the mark on my lip.

I also remember being in the kitchen one morning in winter and my mom telling me that the pipes had frozen. I think they stayed frozen for a few weeks. We were such rustic forest hermits. XD

I'm nnnnooot sure how old I was though. Those are just the first two I can remember.

Not sure if this is a 'true' memory or not, but I remember being in the crib, and I had this furry ball hanging on a string, filled with jingle bells in front of me. Hitting it with my hand, it would produce a jingling sound.

I think my first true memory is when I was probably about a year old. I was in the back of a car, and I pointed to this weird looking sign (it was a Fina petrol station logo) and saying something that sounded like 'nair nair nair'. My aunt was in the car at the time, and repeated my 'nair nair nair' noise.

I have a memory of eating slices of cheese with my mom at the kitchen table. I think I was 2, since my little sister wasn't around.

When I was 1 ½ my family moved.
We were standing in the hallway of the new flat – we being my parents, my maternal grandparents and me. (I actually only recall my mother and grandfather and the legs of my grandmother.)
The rest of the place was still unlit. I looked around. The flat was unfamiliar and a bit scary. I hadn’t been there before and felt uncomfortable. As I looked around I noticed an open door. And beyond that door stood my dear yellow toddler’s bed. I felt such relief and joy at the welcome sight and wanted to approach it but didn’t dare in the strange surroundings. Eagerly I pulled at the leg of my grandfather’s trousers saying something like ”Nnnnggghh! Uuuunnggh!” He laughed and said something that didn’t registrer. My grandfather took my hand and feeling tough now, I lead him into the room.

When I was about 26 months I was sent to a day care centre. Some of the older girls kept going behind me and put their arms around me lifting me up. I hated it! It also hurt my stomach. I yelled and kicked until they let me go.

I have a vague memory about my great grandfather holding me. I felt safe with him and was confused when he had my mother remove me. (She later explained that he was afraid of dropping me as he was a 90 year old man.)

I remember my diaper being changed. Especially one time when my grandparents visited. I didn’t like my father changing me in front of them. It was humiliating and I squirmed. ”Be careful with her,” my grandmother said. ”Yes be careful,” I echoed.

Once I climbed up a chest of drawers. By accident my grandmother came by. She called for my grandfather to come see what I had accomplished. (Grandparents feel proud about the weirdest things.) We waited. ”Come on, X*!” she called. ”Yes, come on, X!” I echoed. She laughed and then I laughed, though I didn’t understand what was so funny. He finally arrived and I recommenced my climbing.

* his name

When I was 2 ½ we spent Christmas at my maternal grandparents’ place. My grandmother told me not to go into the storeroom. I wondered why not, after all I had been allowed to go there before. My grandfather told me there were ghosts there. I stood outside the storeroom, thinking. Even at that age I didn’t think it made any sense at all. First, I didn’t believe in ghosts. Second, even if they were real, why hadn’t I heard anything about it before? Why hadn’t I seen them before? Third, if there really was a ghost there I wanted to see it.
I opened the door and took a peek. Needless to say there was no ghost there; instead I found lots of toys. Of course the unwrapped gifts were the reason why I wasn’t supposed to enter. I ws deeply hurt and disappointed. Why had they lied to me? I went back to the living room and accused them: ”there was no ghost.” The adults all started laughing, enabling me to add humiliation to the list of negative feelings.
Later my grandmother would tell methat I was so cute that day, which always made me mad. I saw nothing cute about being deceived, humiliated, hurt and laughed at.

I was close to 3 years when my mother and I went downtown. She popped into a store which also had a few toys. In the toy collection I found a red tooth glass with an oversized tooth brush. Something was added to the tooth glass so that it jingled when shaken. I liked that sound. I brought it to my mother who stood at the counter paying for something and asked if I could have it. She looked at it and said ”No, that’s a baby toy.”
Immediately I felt the heat of humiliation, closely followed by anger. I was just fine with her saying no, I couldn’t have it. But why did she have to make me feel stupid for asking for it? Angry I went back to the shelf with it and was about to put it back. I glanced at my mother, then held it on my left side (the counter was on my right side) and walked out of the shop with it. I knew that what I did was wrong, but I was so angry I didn’t care. In retrospect, not my proudest moment!
We walked away from the store. My anger faded and I giggled and showed her the toy, feeling very proud and smart getting away with it. She came to a sudden stop and shocked she yelled my name. I have never forgotten the sound of her voice that day. She turned and brought me back to the store which made me angry again. No fair! It was mine now! We’d gotten away with it, why destroy that? I felt betrayed – I had honestly thought she would find me clever and laugh with me. The shop had closed so we went home, bringing the jingling toy with us.
To me it was an act of defiance, not a criminal act. I knew it was wrong but I didn’t understand the possible consequences. When we came home my parents and I had a nice little chat about right and wrong and going to jail, which left me shrieking in fear. Not so much because of what they said about it, though scary. What frightened me more was their serious voices and the fact that they wouldn’t let it go but instead kept asking ”Do you understand?”
