i played with dolls, I also disassembled my GI Joes and then switched the body parts and reassembled them.... heh heh heh

I glued or attached wings to my dolls (they couldnt fly with out wings duh) and I once had a doll that had no legs (it was broke) so i pulled the head off a My Little Pony flutter-by pony and stuck the torso into the neck cavity, walah, I had a cenatar. Cool huh?

I voted yes. I played with dolls when I was very little mainly because those were the toys my parents gave me. But after 4 or 5 years of age, as my AS begin to manifest more strongly, I became increasingly less interested with dolls. I don't remember playing with them from 6 and onward. By then I was hyperlexic and already obsessed with animals and music. I didn't have time for dolls. :P I didn't like them much anyhow.

LOL maybe I should rephrase the question: Did you play with dolls in an NT way - taking care of them, dressing them up, pretending they were real babies, stuff like that...

When I was little I used to do that with my stuffed animals, and have done it with a few dolls.

I used to love dressing up barbies and playing games with them, but I wasn't a "character" in the game if you know what I mean. I gave them kids and families ect.

I was a stuffed animal freak for most of my childhood, witha couple of long phases liking dolls.

Yesterday, I asked my mother to help me find my old Action figures that's been lying in a cardboard box in the attic for 17 years. She promised to help me find them! She actually likes that I have displayed my Star Wars figures in my livingroom!

I played with baby dolls, only. I didn't ever care about Barbies either way.

Mostly, I kept stuffed animals. I also played with matchbox cars, because my brothers had a cool race track for them :) .

Had urges to cut hair with scissors, used to cut my own hair (in the dark at night) when I was a little kid. After that, the few dolls I got fell victim to extreme haircuts (liked the long hair, but just couldn't help myself), then they'd look icky & I'd be bored with them. Liked the clothing for the dolls, but didn't know how else to "play" with them. Never dis-assembled them, scared me to see the insides. Disliked baby dolls, my mother had some antique ones that I played with, though they gave me the creeps.
Stuffed animals-always loved them, problem is that I get (still !) so attached to them that I can't get dispose of them. Way too sensitive about this, it's painful for me to even see a picture of an animal in the trash. Can't look at the humane society ads in newspaper, I fall apart emotionally.
Played with Matchbox cars-making paths & roads in the dirt/gravel/grass for them was such fun. Also, Legos-but didn't make up stories, just moved things back & forth. Nobody's ever said anything was unusual in how I played...

Bland- I hated dolls and thought they were freakish. My favorite activities were zoning out and staring into space, wandering around outdoors just "sensing" everything, disecting birds that the cat killed and naming their organs, then reinserting their organs and burying them (creating a cemetary), then at age 4, I learned to read and that, along with exploring the outdoors and "zoning", became my consuming passion. I mainly played with toys when other kids made me.

My toys of choice were stuffed animals or animal figurines. I had some dolls (mostly because they were given to me), but I'd frequently strip my Cabbage Patch dolls down to their birthdays suits so I could use the clothes on some of my animals.

I even made one of my Cabbage Patches anatomically correct with a permanent marker.

Never! I hated dolls when I was younger, and still do, so I wouldn't go near them. When I went around to friends houses I'd refuse to play dolls with them as well. The only type of dolls I've ever owned are the porcelain ones that are dressed up in fancy clothes and act as decorations not toys. They were excellent decorations until one got smashed in the face and shattered along with the rest of them :P

I played with dolls a lot as a kid, in both normal and un-normal ways. With 3 other siblings close in age to me, we had a lot of time to play pretend. My brothers burned and tortured my dolls, and cut off their hair. This upset my sister greatly, though I could care less. I played more with my brothers toys then my own, loved the cars and robots and stuff compared to a barbie. I played with them all. I've always been into stuffed animals, and still am. At 22, I have WAY more stuffed animals then any adult needs, but, cant help myself. I still get the erdge to buy more whenever I go shopping. Most I just like the texture of them, like feeling them, others I get cause I like just think they're cute, and anything that deals with cats Im a sucker for, sence cats are another obsession of mine. I think Im getting off topic here, what were we talking about? :-D

I did, but also had weird habits, loved tying knots, and carried my dolls by their hair, and simply told my mom "they liked it."

Pulled their limbs off and stuck them back on. Dragged them around by the hair. Never play-acted with them. I even attempted to play-act a couple of times because I knew that's what some toys were for. But I just couldn't. It didn't make any sense.

I wish I'd done the poll better - I would have put "Yes I played with dolls - I mangled them in various ways" because then I think 100% of us would have checked that box.

To be fair on us, I think most NT girls mutilate their dolls at some point. Little girls are evil.
