What to say when people tell you to SMILE

“I will smile when you start laughing”

When (or if) people tell me to smile, I'd just give a little smile and that's it.

I say nothing though I really do want to say "F*** OFF!"

if it is a man telling me to smile, i ask him if he is going to take my picture. when he says no, then i just shake my head. if one ever says yes, then i'll ask him for the release form.

if it is a woman telling me to smile, i look her in the eye and say, "show me two good reasons." when she turns to leave, i say "well, that's one." when she actually leaves, i say "and that's two." but if a woman ever flashes her highbeams in my eyes i might never stop smiling.

lol, i never smile, unless i'm laughing at something, i can't just smile at someone or something.

I tell them I have nothing to smile about, which for the most part is true.

Though in the back of my head, I'm thinking "If you want me to smile so much, get down on your knees and make me smile."

I get asked to smile all the time, it really irritates the hell out of me.

I just give a quick smile and go back to my origional face and say "there, that better??"

me: well entertain me in a non moronic way.

i do not know why people want smiles. maybe it makes them feel powerful if they can get someone to smile.

i smile at their feeble attempts to make me smile.
then i laugh at their belief that they caused me to smile with what they said.

i can go into a fit of laughter that someone wrongly thinks they are responsible for. that makes it even funnier.

but i can never "share" a joke. that is a drawback.

I just try and put on the creepiest smile possible. Think Wednesday Addams.

Seriously, being expected to be smiley all the time when I don't feel that way is torture for me. This is probably why, some years ago, a customer service job almost gave me a nervous breakdown.

Yeah well I dont have to try.

Someone said this to me once, and in my head I was thinking something that someone once quoted on here: "You leave me alone and I'll start smiling. The further away you get the wider I grin, and when you're out of sight is when the party starts." But then I smiled thinking about this, so I thought DAMN!

I have had this happen all the time, I can and do smile, but when I am thinking or distracted
I look emotionless, some people say I look like I am mad when I am not, gets kind of confusing
when asked to smile. Anyhow this thread made me smile

Once I had a RE detention, and since the teacher is a very rude woman, I was not exactly grinning at her. But since I usually have a blank expression (though apparently is looks like a scowl) she then told me to "Get a better outlook on life" I just stared at her. apparently this is offensive? people keep telling me to smile and I just reply "why?"
