Asperger Syndrome!! !! !! !! !! !

I was gonna make that text huge, but there doesn't seem to be a font size option.

I like being able to run, jump, dance and fight. I wouldn't be immobile for anything.

I'd rather have AS. I love being able to run around with my dog, go for walks & get around easily.

Have to agree happy with who I am, as for being in a wheel chair guess would be easier if born that way, as like with AS would know no difference... as for accidents are different I feel!

Give me AS any day.

Being confined to a wheelchair is one of the most awful things I can think of, especially when you were able to walk before. Those who have to face that are truly brave.

^

We used to have an electric wheel chair. Mom stays with the elderly during the day and one of her patients died and didn't have a place to keep his wheel chair so she took it home until someone claimed it. It was a whole lot of fun to play with. :P

Depends on sexual function with the wheelchair. Also if you have AS and you know it you can cope better. What would an undiagnosed AS with no idea why their life was bad was asked "Would you swap feeling like an earthbound alien for being in a wheelchair and being human?"

The poster above is right at least in my case, this NT would definitely choose a wheelchair over AS. I would be too afraid of where I might fall on the spectrum, I would much rather not have control of a mere appendage than to not have control of my mind/sensory functions. I can't see not being able to control how the world affects me, that would be horrible for me...the OCD's, anxiety and many off the issues that can come with AS aren't things I would want to have to struggle with.

If you dont have autism, why are you on this site making me feel uncomfortable with who I am? :x

This site isn't only for those with autism and AS, it also is for those who love someone with those differences...if you feel bad because I answered someone's question honestly, then that appears to be more your issue than anything that I did.

...I might go and ask the same question as to why you just made me feel uncomfortable with who I am, and your commentary was actually directed to me.

Well, I've accomplished both. Have AS and I've been in a wheelchair ( was temporairly paralyzed from the waist down). I'd do away with the wheelchair and keep my AS.

Me too. I would not want to be in a wheelchair as I could not pursue my hobbies as easily. My step-brother is partially paralysed after being run over by a car a few years ago so is usually in a wheelchair (he can walk but not for long periods). His life is very very difficult and he will never be independent, something I find terrifying.

Also I would take AS over being an NT any day. Though I guess I am biased :)

Wheelchair, I think...depends why I'm in it.
Is it because I have no legs?
Or because I am a lazy and insensitive human being?

In all seriousness, I would keep my AS. I feel like it's the only thing that defines me.

Most definitely AS.
